# Virals: Journalist claims Liverpool ‘want to open talks’ for Jeremy Doku

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/11/noel-whelan-lauds-brilliant-liverpool-sensation-harvey-elliott/) are believed to ‘want to open talks’ to sign Stade Rennais winger [Jeremy Doku](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/14/virals-liverpool-target-donyell-malen-very-close-to-borussia-dortmund/) this summer.

The Reds hold a [long-standing interest](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jeremy-doku-liverpool-transfer-klopp-20241339) in the Belgium international and could move for 19-year-old in order to replenish the attacking options at Anfield.

Recently Belgian website [Voetbal 24](https://voetbal24.be/news/72004/jrmy-doku-op-weg-naar-europese-grootmacht-45-miljoen-euro) reported that [impressive performances](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jeremy-doku/934386) during the European Championships have reignited interest from Merseyside.

Following the report, Portuguese transfer specialist Pedro Almeida has taken to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/pedrogva6/status/1425260670094913540) to claim Liverpool are keen to initiate contact.

The Ligue 1 club are expected to demand a fee in the region of £38million to part with the [10 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/nationalmannschaft/spieler/486049/verein_id/3382) teenager.

Last season, the teenager once [described](https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/SportsArchive/He-s-a-rough-diamond-De-Bruyne-showers-praise-on-Jeremy-Doku-1056235) as a ‘rough diamond’ by Kevin De Bruyne, [scored twice and registered three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/486049) in 30 league outings.

Valued at £23.4million and under contract until 2025 in France ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/marktwertverlauf/spieler/486049)), signing a player with the [ability and potential](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/388098/Show/J%C3%A9r%C3%A9my-Doku) of Doku for the suggested £38million would be a worthwhile acquisition.

Equally adept on [both wings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/486049) and as a central striker, the Belgian phenomenon would offer Klopp maximum cover across the front three and is young enough to be a permanent replacement.

Perhaps sing Divock Origi in a deal, or at the very least selling Doku’s compatriot and [Xherdan Shaqiri](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-readying-40m-watford-ismaila-sarr-bid-upgrade-origi-shaqiri) could see this transfer move forwards.
