# Virals: Journalist delivers opinion on Houssem Aouar’s transfer destination

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/16/virals-liverpool-striker-divock-origi-gaining-plenty-of-interest/) are believed to be among a host of clubs hoping to sign Lyon midfielder [Houssem Aouar](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/06/virals-liverpool-target-houssem-aouar-hoping-to-achieve-summer-move/) this summer.

As interest comes from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal, the Reds are also thought to hold a [long term admiration](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4433415/manchester-united-liverpool-enter-race-to-sign-lyons-houssem-aouar-arsenal-tottenham-in-pole-position) in the Frenchman.

Reputable source for French football news [GFFN](https://twitter.com/GFFN) added fuel to the fire when it was[claimed](https://twitter.com/GFFN/status/1416085081396064261) the 23-year-old had ‘no intention’ of being in the Ligue 1 club’s plans next season.

Now journalist for Le10sport Alexis Bernard has given an [opinion](https://twitter.com/AlexisBernard10/status/1415971017898569728) as to where Aouar could be plying his trade in 2021/22.

[Reportedly](https://metro.co.uk/2021/07/07/lyon-set-low-asking-price-for-arsenal-to-sign-houssem-aouar-14890967/) available for just £25million in this transfer window, it’s perhaps of little surprise that the ace would be hot property.

Capped on [15 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/houssem-aouar/nationalmannschaft/spieler/395693/verein_id/9323) by France at Under 21 level, Aouar has been a [consistent performer](https://www.sofascore.com/player/houssem-aouar/846081) since breaking through at the Groupama Stadium.

Once [described](https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/transfer-news/aouar-arsenal-transfer-praised-messi-18872761) as ‘excellent’ by Lionel Messi, the talented Frenchman continued on an upwards trajectory by [scoring seven and assisting another three goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/houssem-aouar/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/395693) in 30 league outings last term.

Valued at £37.8million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/houssem-aouar/marktwertverlauf/spieler/395693)), the mooted asking price would represent a bargain deal for all suitors.

Predominantly a central midfielder, Aouar would offer more in a [creative sense](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322096/Show/Houssem-Aouar) than his predecessor Gini Wijnaldum.

Boasting as equally an impressive [injury record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/houssem-aouar/verletzungen/spieler/395693) as the Dutchman, the Lyon star could be the ideal candidate to replace Wijnaldum.

Also [linked](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/5-midfielders-liverpool-could-sign-to-replace-gini-wijnaldum) with Renato Sanches, Florian Neuhaus, Saul Niguez and Youri Tielemans in recent weeks, Jurgen Klopp will be looking to make a definitive move sooner rather than later.
