# Virals: Journalist names trio of clubs interested in Ben Davies

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/03/virals-liverpool-named-among-clubs-interested-in-arnaut-danjuma/) defender [Ben Davies](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/21/virals-sheffield-united-keen-on-move-for-liverpool-defender-ben-davies/) is reportedly attracting interest from a host of clubs this summer.

The 25-year-old centre-back was signed in February as an emergency option with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all [ruled out for the duration](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12206038/joel-matip-liverpool-defender-to-miss-remainder-of-2020-21-premier-league-season-with-ankle-ligament-injury#:~:text=Liverpool%20defender%20Joel%20Matip%20will,subsequently%20substituted%20at%20half%2Dtime.) of the season.

However, the ex-Preston ace was deemed surplus to requirements as Rhys Williams, Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak [saw out the campaign](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/434196-nat-phillips-and-rhys-williams-have-created-proper-careers-now) for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

According to Daily Mail journalist [Dominic King](https://twitter.com/DominicKing_DM/status/1422589177317797889) on Twitter, Celtic, Bournemouth and Sheffield United are all keen on Davies.

Having only recently made [a first outing for the Reds](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jurgen-klopp-called-ben-davies-21113571) in a pre-season friendly clash against FC Wacker Innsbruck, allowing the Englishman to leave before making a competitive debut would be a bold statement.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signed for £1.6million ([Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/liverpool-complete-16m-davies-signing-preston/x6ejltp2d7qo1thfn8ze2dpq4)) on a contract until 2025 amidst strong interest from Celtic, Liverpool must believe the club can strike a profit on their expenditure.

Realistically as Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip return to the fold – on top of the [arrival of Ibrahima Konate](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig) – Davies is going to struggle to get a look in once again during 2021/22.

Valued at £2.7million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-davies/marktwertverlauf/spieler/257097)), Michael Edwards will be keen to extract a healthy fee from the clubs interested.
