# Virals: Journalist says Harvey Elliott is ‘on track’ for a first-team return

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/13/liverpool-to-face-red-bull-salzburg-in-ucl-round-of-16/) midfielder [Harvey Elliott](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/06/virals-liverpool-starlet-harvey-elliott-nearing-return-to-team-training/) is believed to be ‘on track’ for a return to first-team action.

The 18-year-old has been [absent for three months](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/sep/15/harvey-elliott-unhappy-after-leeds-fail-appeal-pascal-struijk-red-card-wrong) following a horrific ankle dislocation suffered against Leeds United in September.

Despite [initial fears](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/harvey-elliott-injury-exclusive-news-21590502) that the Englishman’s entire 2021/22 campaign could be under threat, Elliott has since been defying the odds towards making a prompt comeback.

Football journalist David Lynch has reported for the [Irish Mirror](https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/harvey-elliott-recovering-ahead-schedule-25675627), as cited by [LFC Transfer Room](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom) on Twitter, that the attacking midfielder is in line to make a return to the fold in January.

The report states that the starlet’s ‘commitment to a gruelling programme’ has put the [11-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/nationalmannschaft/spieler/565822/verein_id/9565) England youth international in line for a return ahead of schedule.

Prior to the setback, Elliott had made [three consecutive Premier League starts](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/leistungsdaten/spieler/565822) for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

This would certainly offer a timely boost to Klopp’s squad.

Just as the Reds’ reel from the [loss of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10300455/Liverpool-fear-lose-Mo-Salah-Sadio-Mane-AFCON-week-EARLIER.html), Elliott’s return to fitness would be a much-needed comfort.

Supremely talented, the creative ace had begun to [settle into the side](https://www.sofascore.com/player/harvey-elliott/955245) before the cruel setback and will no doubt be relishing getting back into the swing of matters in the new year.
