# Virals: Jurgen Klopp confirms Luis Diaz ‘needs time’ at Liverpool

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/04/virals-liverpool-agree-deal-for-fulham-starlet-fabio-carvalho/) manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed new signing [Luis Diaz](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/02/virals-liverpool-set-to-welcome-excellent-new-signing-luis-diaz/) ‘needs time to adapt’ at Anfield.

The Reds are back in action this weekend following a short break and will [face Cardiff City](https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1489531593500807169?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) in the FA Cup fourth round.

Speaking ahead of the clash at the [pre-match press conference](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/watch-jurgen-klopps-pre-cardiff-press-conference), Klopp spoke about the possible impact of January signing Luis Diaz.

> Klopp on Luis Diaz
>
> "If Luis came, stepped on the pitch and immediately was at his best, that would be really strange. He needs time. I don't speak about 4-5 months, but he needs time. I haven't seen him here yet. We are excited about the signing."[#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

The German boss went on to say he ‘can’t wait’ to work with the 25-year-old before describing the [33-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/nationalmannschaft/spieler/480692/verein_id/3816) Colombian as an ‘exceptional player’.

Prior to making the switch to Merseyside, Diaz [scored 16 times and provided six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/leistungsdaten/spieler/480692) for FC Porto this season.

Well, things are heating up nicely as we approach the [crunch time](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results) in the campaign.

Much like Klopp, Liverpool fans all over are relishing the prospect of seeing the [£36million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/marktwertverlauf/spieler/480692) Diaz in a Red shirt.

Throw a possible [return of Harvey Elliott](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1489533221398327296), Thiago and Divock Origi into the mix, a previously low key FA Cup clash now has an added tinge of excitement.
