# Virals: Jurgen Klopp confirms Virgil van Dijk is ‘200 per cent’ ready

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/09/virals-ac-milan-receive-double-injury-boost-ahead-of-first-liverpool-trip/) manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed [Virgil van Dijk](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/08/virals-virgil-van-dijk-sends-defiant-message-as-international-reds-thrive/) is ‘200 per cent’ ready to face Leeds United on Sunday.

There was universal concern earlier in the week when the Dutchman limped off following Netherlands’ [6-1 victory](https://www.skysports.com/football/teams/netherlands/results) over Turkey.

Despite the 30-year-old acting to [allay fears](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/virgil-van-dijk-injury-netherlands-liverpool-b1916197.html) in a post-match interview, worries remained that the more accurate prognosis would be damaging on a return to Merseyside.

In the build-up to the trip to Elland Road, Klopp spoke to the [club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/442858-jurgen-klopp-s-update-on-virgil-van-dijk-squad-fitness-and-naby-keita), as cited by [Paul Gorst](https://twitter.com/ptgorst/status/1435991892848742410) on Twitter, about Van Dijk’s availability.

Klopp also confirmed both Harvey Elliott and Naby Keita should be ready for the clash despite [pulling out of international duty](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12401459/liverpools-naby-keita-flying-back-from-guinea-after-military-coup-suspends-world-cup-qualifier) for contrasting reasons.

Meanwhile, the biggest selection headache facing both managers surrounds the Brazilian stars that were [refused permission](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58470358) to travel recently.

FIFA has imposed a [five-day playing ban](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/sep/08/premier-league-clubs-plan-to-select-brazilians-despite-fifa-sanctions-threat-liverpool-manchester-city-united-leeds-chelsea) on Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino for a Reds’ perspective, whilst Leeds will be without Raphinha as things stand.

Gorst doesn’t believe Liverpool will select their Brazilian’s unless a [‘clear resolution’](https://twitter.com/ptgorst/status/1436019535597932556) can be found.

> Twitter: @CathalRobinson @IanDoyleSport I guess so. For what it’s worth, I don’t think they’ll play unless there’s a clear resolution by Sunday. (@ptgorst)

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Positive news on the Van Dijk, Keita and Elliott front at least.

Kopites everywhere would have released a huge sigh of relief as their Dutch centre-back made a [quick recovery](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12401865/virgil-van-dijk-liverpool-defender-plays-down-ankle-injury-concerns-after-tackle-in-netherlands-match) this week.

Players like him will be all the more [important](https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2020/02/14/virgil-van-dijk-liverpool-how-important-is-he-stats-analysis/) on Sunday should Klopp be without Alisson and Fabinho in particular.
