# Virals: Kylian Mbappe ‘open’ to earth-shattering Liverpool transfer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/17/opinion-rating-liverpools-star-performers-in-crucial-ucl-victory/) could be back in contention for a sensational move to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward [Kylian Mbappe](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/19/virals-liverpool-prepare-desperate-move-for-psg-star-kylian-mbappe/).

The 23-year-old had appeared to be [primed to head to Real Madrid](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10487333/Kylian-Mbappe-speaks-Real-Madrid-transfer-speculation-PSG-prepare-face-Los-Blancos.html) in the summer when his contract in the French capital expires.

However, the [World Cup-winning sensation](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/kylian-mbappe-world-cup-final-2018-france-vs-croatia-fifa-young-player-award-a8448586.html) could still make a dramatic U-turn and stay in France or head elsewhere.

According to a report from Catalan newspaper [Sport](https://www.sport.es/en/news/real-madrid/kylian-mbappe-earthquake-psg-striker-considering-not-joining-real-madrid-13245017), as cited by [BeSoccer](https://twitter.com/besoccer_ES/status/1493997350829711364) on Twitter, the Reds are still in with a shout.

The report claims that the [53-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/nationalmannschaft/spieler/342229/verein_id/3377) superstar was ‘disappointed’ with the performance of Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and is now considering alternatives.

One of the options is Liverpool, who as the report states ‘want him’, as the Anfield club present an ‘interesting project’ to the man described as [‘unstoppable’](https://theathletic.com/news/ancelotti-and-pochettino-heap-praise-on-unstoppable-and-mature-mbappe/eblWH4uBsqgS/) by Carlo Ancelotti.

This season Mbappe has [scored 22 times and provided 16 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/leistungsdaten/spieler/342229) in just 32 appearances.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing the [£144million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/marktwertverlauf/spieler/342229) Mbappe for nothing by the way of transfer fee would be groundbreaking business from the Reds.

Albit the wages would likely shatter the ceiling currently in place on Merseyside, opportunities to sign [players of this ilk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/342229) don’t present themselves often.

Predominately [operating as a centre-forward](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300713/Show/Kylian-Mbapp%C3%A9), the decorated Frenchman is able to play across the frontline – including as a right-sided forward.

Exactly what such a far-fetched deal would mean for [Mohamed Salah’s new contract](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1565707/Liverpool-transfer-news-Mohamed-Salah-Jurgen-Klopp-summer-window) is another question altogether, however, at 23 and with all the ability in the world, Liverpool couldn’t overlook the chance to sign Mbappe.
