# Virals: La Liga manager ‘wants’ Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah

Barcelona manager Xavi reportedly ‘wants’ to sign [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/15/gary-neville-labels-liverpool-attack-an-absolute-joke/) star [Mohamed Salah](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/21/pundit-claims-liverpool-have-mohamed-salah-contingency-lined-up/).

This comes as [speculation](https://www.google.com/search?q=mohamed+salah+contract&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB885GB885&oq=mohamed&aqs=chrome.0.69i59l2j69i57j69i59j69i60l4.880j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) surrounding the 29-year-old winger’s future at Anfield remains in question as negotiations continue over a new deal.

Currently out of contract in 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/profil/spieler/148455)), Barcelona are believed to be keen on taking the Egyptian.

That’s according to a report from Spanish news outlet [AS](https://as.com/) (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/would-not-exceed-e70m-club-believe-they-can-buy-liverpool-player-for-reasonable-summer-fee/)), as also [cited](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1503649934549078018) on Twitter.

The report claims that the [80-cap superstar](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148455/verein_id/3672) is regarded as the ‘plan B’ to Erling Haaland with possible moves for Robert Lewandowski and Romelu Lukaku also on the cards.

Since arriving on Merseyside, Salah – [hailed](https://www.theringer.com/2021/9/15/22675678/salah-and-miedema-keep-it-100-plus-anniversary-of-certain-179) as ‘extraordinary’ by Ian Wright – has provided a remarkable [210 direct goal contributions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/148455) in 238 appearances across all competitions.

It’s claimed that the [Egyptian King](https://talksport.com/football/660139/mohamed-salah-song-what-are-the-lyrics-to-liverpool-chant/) is viewed as the ‘ideal player’ to bolster the Camp Nou ranks and the switch ‘would not exceed €70m (£59m)’ this summer.

Having scored [28 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdaten/spieler/148455) this season, for that fee, Barcelona may just about require the ace’s right foot.

Albeit the Anfield club either need to [sort out a new contract](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mohamed-salah-liverpool-contract-fsg-23369589) or consider cashing in, there isn’t a realistic chance that Salah leaves for anything less than £100million.
