# Virals: Liverpool ace Joe Gomez ‘to push’ for summer departure

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/10/virals-liverpool-ready-to-move-for-lille-striker-jonathan-david/) defender [Joe Gomez](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/01/virals-liverpool-ask-for-30million-transfer-fee-to-sell-joe-gomez/) is reportedly set ‘to push’ for a departure from Merseyside this summer.

The 24-year-old ace has [dropped down the pecking order](https://www.sofascore.com/player/joe-gomez/318927) at Anfield following a return to fitness this season.

Having missed [39 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/verletzungen/spieler/256178) in the 2020/21 campaign with a patella injury, Gomez, much like Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip is now back up and running.

According to a report from [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/joe-gomez-to-push-for-liverpool-exit-in-the-summer), as cited by [Graeme Bailey](https://twitter.com/GraemeBailey/status/1501846415206715395) on Twitter, the England international will look for a move in the near future.

The report states that more than ‘half the Premier League are keen’ on signing the [11-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/256178/verein_id/3299) ace with the ‘biggest interest’ from Leicester, Newcastle United, Tottenham and West Ham.

This season Gomez – once hailed as [‘sensational’](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/385277-jurgen-klopp-praise-for-joe-gomez) by Jurgen Klopp – has played [14 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178) across all competitions for the Reds.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract at Anfield until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/256178)), the Englishman would understandably still fetch a ‘hefty price tag’.

However, there can be little doubt that Gomez’s future is in doubt beyond this season as new signing Ibrahima Konate seemingly [usurps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ibrahima-konate/profil/spieler/357119) the defender in Klopp’s side.

Albeit blighted by injuries, the ex-Charlton Athletic starlet was one time the [perfect foil](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-gomez-paid-ultimate-virgil-18030669) alongside Virgil van Dijk.

With the 22-year-old Frenchman [already in favour](https://www.sofascore.com/player/ibrahima-konate/826215) and Joel Matip the regular partner to Van Dijk, the Lonon-born star must be wondering when a prolonged opportunity will come along.
