# Virals: Liverpool among clubs ‘interested’ in Carney Chukwuemeka

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/29/virals-liverpool-manager-jurgen-klopp-now-prefers-kamaldeen-sulemana/) have been named among those clubs ‘interested’ in signing Aston Villa youngster [Carney Chukwuemeka](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/02/liverpool-keeping-tabs-on-aston-villa-teenager-carney-chukwuemeka/).

The Reds are believed to be keen on the 18-year-old alongside reported [admiration](https://talksport.com/football/990673/man-united-man-city-transfer-news-carney-chukwuemeka-aston-villa/) from Manchester United and Manchester City.

Chukwuemeka is [expected to reject a new contract](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/carney-chukwuemeka-contract-aston-villa-22292631) at Villa Park having grown frustrated over a lack of senior opportunities in the Midlands.

That’s according to a report from [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/nov/26/aston-villa-carney-chukwuemeka-will-not-sign-new-contract), as cited by [RedBird News](https://twitter.com/Anfield__Irish) on Twitter.

The report claims that Liverpool have been placed ‘on alert’ by the [four-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carney-chukwuemeka/nationalmannschaft/spieler/659459/verein_id/21340) England youth international’s stance.

Described as [‘outstanding’](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/carney-chukwuemeka-aston-villa-merson-21437812?fbclid=IwAR16HYFj0yn7Rs5YmrX8bwjNZmWU_aGyi9AvC6EmNiCrdtOtioHAeVh6_SE) by ex-Arsenal ace Paul Merson following a promising Premier League debut, this season Chukwuemeka has only [featured on three occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carney-chukwuemeka/leistungsdaten/spieler/659459) for the first-team.

Instead, the rangy midfielder has continued to flourish at Under 23 level, [scoring twice and providing four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carney-chukwuemeka/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/659459/saison/2021/wettbewerb/GB21/verein/12124) in five Premier League 2 appearances.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

On the bench for the [duration](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carney-chukwuemeka/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/659459/saison/2021/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/405) of the last two matches, it remains to be seen whether the situation will change under new manager and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Clearly a supremely talented player with plenty to offer, Chukwuemeka was heralded as being England’s [‘best 16-year-old’](https://theathletic.com/1731813/2020/04/09/aston-villa-carney-chukwuemeka-midfielder/) previously.

Liverpool have developed a penchant for snapping up the best available young talent in recent seasons – including [Harvey Elliott](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/358354-liverpool-fc-confirm-signing-of-harvey-elliott), Bobby Clark and Kaide Gordon.

Perhaps an [out of favour](https://www.sofascore.com/player/carney-chukwuemeka/994556) Chukwuemeka will be the next to arrive on Merseyside.
