# Virals: Liverpool are ‘favourites’ to sign EPL star Youri Tielemans

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/31/virals-liverpool-fans-delighted-as-great-transfer-news-emerges/) have been named as ‘favourites’ to sign Leicester City midfielder [Youri Tielemans](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/25/virals-liverpool-most-interested-in-leicester-city-star-youri-tielemans/).

The Reds have been [extensively linked](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC/status/1483202030017601542?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1483202030017601542%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Freadliverpoolfc.com%2F2022%2F01%2F25%2Fvirals-liverpool-most-interested-in-leicester-city-star-youri-tielemans%2F) with a move for the 24-year-old for some time and could finally make their move in the summer.

Following the [departure of Gini Wijnaldum](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/why-gini-wijnaldum-leaving-liverpool-20781054) as a free agent, Jurgen Klopp opted not to sign an immediate replacement despite an expectancy from elsewhere.

According to a report from Spanish outlet [Nacional](https://www.elnacional.cat/ca/esports/klopp-se-l-portara-joan-laporta-no-aconsegueix-convencer-xavi-hernandez-per-evitar-que-vagi-al_702348_102.html), as cited by [https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC)[Liverpool FC News](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC)on Twitter, the Anfield club are the frontrunners for the Belgian.

The report claims that Liverpool are ahead of Barcelona in the race and are already in ‘very advanced negotiations’ for the [47-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/nationalmannschaft/spieler/249565/verein_id/3382) ace.

This season Tielemans – hailed as [‘fantastic’](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/tielemans-suit-liverpool-heskey-leicester-not-cheap/vur6o7ro17xf13qb7pxxn78ao) by Emile Heskey – has [scored six times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdaten/spieler/249565) in 25 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £49.5million and under contract in the Midlands until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/marktwertverlauf/spieler/249565)), it’s no surprise to see the cultured midfielder’s future being scrutinised.

Already a [consistent performer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/249565) at the top level, the Belgian is expected to ’embark on a new adventure’ at the end of the season and Liverpool should be all over any possible capture.

Boasting a [wide range of attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136345/Show/Youri-Tielemans) both in an attacking and defensive sense, Klopp would no doubt be delighted with the addition of Tielemans to the Anfield squad.
