# Virals: Liverpool ‘ask for information’ on Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/01/virals-liverpool-keeping-tabs-on-brighton-midfielder-yves-bissouma/) are reportedly keen on Inter Milan central midfielder [Nicolo Barella](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/07/virals-liverpool-reportedly-monitoring-three-inter-milan-stars/) this summer.

This comes as Jurgen Klopp continues to pursue a [replacement for Gini Wijnaldum](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-thiago-transfer-wijnaldum-replacement-20732723) after the Dutchman left a huge hole in the Anfield squad.

Despite often dividing opinions, Wijnaldum possessed superb durability in the heart of the midfield – underlined by appearing in [all 38 Premier League games](https://www.premierleague.com/players/7114/Georginio-Wijnaldum/overview) last term.

According to Enrico Camelio during [Calciomercato.it](https://www.calciomercato.it/2021/07/01/calciomercato-liverpool-barella-inter-informazioni/)’s program ‘Calciomercato Show’, as cited by [LFC Transfer Room](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1410848899858903041) on Twitter, Barella is among the potential contenders.

Camelio claimed the Reds have ‘have asked for information’ on the possibility of signing the 24-year-old, although the [Serie A giants](https://www.celebrazio.net/soccer/seriea/index.html) were insistent no deal would be forthcoming.

Barella is currently [impressing](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nicolo-barella/363856) with the Italy squad at Euro 2020 and could be in line to face Belgium in the quarter-finals.

During 2020/21, the ace who was once [hailed](https://twitter.com/Inter_en/status/1358705329001951232?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1358705329001951232%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsempreinter.com%2F2021%2F02%2F09%2Fsocial-inter-sing-nicolo-barellas-praises-after-fiorentina-performance-baller%2F) as a ‘baller’, contributed [three goals and 10 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/255942) in 46 appearances across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £58.5million and under contract in Milan until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/marktwertverlauf/spieler/255942)), prizing the 26-cap star away from the San Siro would require a monumental fee.

In terms of quality, signing the Italian would no doubt fill the void left by Wijnaldum and perhaps even enhance the [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team).

Not for [strong passing](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/148684/Show/Nicol%C3%B2-Barella) ability, Barella would offer a slightly different midfield option to Klopp and could provide added ammunition to the forwards.

Give Inter’s perceived stance, however, any deal seems unlikely in this window at least.
