# Virals: Liverpool ‘believed to admire’ Patrick Bamford

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/10/paul-stewart-believes-jadon-sancho-could-replace-standout-liverpool-star/) could be interested in a potential shock summer swoop for Leeds United striker [Patrick Bamford](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/02/patrick-bamford-is-better-than-roberto-firmino-claims-ex-footballer/).

Bamford has enjoyed a superb campaign in an impressive newly-promoted Leeds side, silencing [numerous detractors](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/patrick-bamford-critics-not-good-20229847) in the process.

As a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2576161/2021/05/10/ornstein-bamford-secretly-extends-deal-pfa-awards-confusion-wycome-could-sue-abraham-guehi-futures/) emerged confirming the 27-year-old extended his contract at Elland Road by a further 12 month last summer, the same report has claimed the Reds are ‘believed to admire’ the forward.

As cited by [The Anfield Talk](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1391650527830843393) on Twitter, the report from David Ornstein has claimed the new deal may not stop any transfer move this summer were a ‘suitable’ bid to materialise.

This season, Bamford, who Jurgen Klopp [lauded](https://metro.co.uk/2021/04/17/jurgen-klopp-reserves-special-praise-for-exceptional-patrick-bamford-ahead-of-liverpools-clash-against-leeds-14426018/) as ‘exceptional’ in April, has scored [15 goals from 35 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334) in the top flight as well as registering seven assists.

Signing Bamford would certainly provide additional attacking options to the [Anfield ranks](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team).

Klopp will be desperate to add alternatives to the tried and tested front three this summer and the [England Under 21 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/nationalmannschaft/spieler/183334/verein_id/9565) has proven to be ready-made for the Premier League.

Valued at £16.2million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/marktwertverlauf/spieler/183334)), the Grantham-born ace has seemingly improved year on year and offers [similar traits](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-bamford-carragher-firmino-bielsa-19171973) to that of Roberto Firmino, a style Klopp is known to be a fan of.

Having said all of that, at 27 and with [two years remaining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/profil/spieler/183334) on a contract, signing Bamford would be an expensive outlay and the Reds could perhaps find better value elsewhere – such as [teammate Raphinha](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/raphinha-leeds-liverpool-transfer-news-20396927).
