[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/17/garth-crooks-believes-james-ward-prowse-would-suit-liverpool/) are reportedly ‘big favourites’ to sign Lille OSC midfielder [Renato Sanches](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/23/virals-liverpool-target-renato-sanches-ready-to-make-transfer-move/).

The Reds have been [extensively linked](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldBuzz/status/1425824903983353860) with a move for the 24-year-old for a prolonged period and a move could eventually materialise.

According to a report from [El Nacional](https://www.elnacional.cat/ca/esports/prefereix-anar-amb-klopp-al-liverpool-per-jugar-se-la-amb-xavi-hernandez-i-rebutja-negociar-amb-el-barca_696120_102.html), Sanches has no interest in moving to Barcelona despite interest from the Catalan giants.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp is ready to ‘welcome’ the [32-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/nationalmannschaft/spieler/258027/verein_id/3300) Portugal star into the Anfield ranks.

Furthermore, the Spanish outlet states that talks are ‘very advanced’ and a deal for the [7.25 Sofascore rated](https://www.sofascore.com/player/renato-sanches/318967) ace is ‘very close’ to being completed.

This season Sanches – once described as being ‘physically and technically perfect’ by [TMW](https://www.milannews.it/news/lille-salisburgo-renato-sanches-e-un-gigante-in-mezzo-al-campo-431577) – has [scored once and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/leistungsdaten/spieler/258027) in 18 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Valued at £27million and under contract in France until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/marktwertverlauf/spieler/258027)), signing the Portuguese international would be an affordable venture for the Reds.

Albeit the midfielder has a rather [worrying injury record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/verletzungen/spieler/258027), should assurances be made over prolonged fitness, then this deal would be a no-brainer.

Having already [experienced the Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/258027) during a loan spell at Swansea City, Sanches also has top-level European credentials following a two-year stint at Bayern Munich.

Predominantly a box to box operator, the Lisbon-born star boasts a [range of impressive attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/299450/Show/Renato-Sanches) that would make him the ideal candidate to finally replace Gini Wijnaldum.
