# Virals: Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson to be honoured with MBE

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/12/virals-christian-falk-confirms-liverpool-interest-in-florian-neuhaus/) captain [Jordan Henderson](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/09/virals-jordan-henderson-reacts-to-10-year-anniversary-tributes/) has been awarded an MBE for services to charity.

The 30-year-old, who recently [marked a decade at Anfield](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435742-photos-jordan-henderson-decade-liverpool), has been recognised for his contribution to the wider community throughout the coronavirus pandemic over the last 18 months.

Henderson led the Premier League captains in the [‘Players Together’ initiative](https://www.goal.com/en/news/premier-league-players-announce-players-together-fund-to/kg6ttxgksag8zhuvum7z0ie9) that encouraged professional footballers across the top-flight to donate to the NHS.

Subsequently, the former Sunderland man [became an ambassador](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/liverpool/jordan-henderson-nhs-charities-together-b1789391.html) for the NHS Charities Together organisation.

Currently away with the England squad as the European Championships get underway, Henderson took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/JHenderson/status/1403467060177424384) to acknowledge the recognition.

Not only has the Liverpool ace been a leader on the pitch, but also away from football duties – recently offering support to [Cybersmile’s anti-cyberbullying campaign](https://www.cybersmile.org/news/liverpool-england-footballer-jordan-henderson-and-cybersmile-team-up-for-people-not-profiles-anti-cyberbullying-campaign) ‘People Not Profiles’.

More deserved acclaim for a man Kopites can be immensely proud to call their club captain.

Having [achieved so much](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-henderson/erfolge/spieler/61651) on the pitch as leader of Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, Henderson has used his profile in the best possible way ever since.

Here’s hoping the individual honour is followed by many more team accolades next season.
