Now a report from newspaper [A Bola](https://abola.pt/) (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-pushed-sell-player-financial-reasons-liverpool-told-need-pay/)) has claimed that the Anfield club will need to pay heavily in order to land the Uruguayan.

The report states that the move from Liverpool for the [eight-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/darwin-nunez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/546543/verein_id/3449) ace ‘makes sense’ due to the expiring contracts and the ‘good experiences’ when signing from the league previously.

This season Nunez has [scored 25 times and registered two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/darwin-nunez/leistungsdaten/spieler/546543) in 30 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £28.8million and under contract until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/darwin-nunez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/546543)), signing the prolific frontman for the mooted €60-70million (£49.5-£57.8million) would still be a worthwhile move.

Despite a previously subdued record, Nunez is enjoying a [remarkable 2021/22 campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/darwin-nunez/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/546543) and appears primed to take the next step in an exciting career this summer.

Capable of operating from the left, as a centre-forward and from a deeper role, the Uruguayan star looks [tailormade](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/400828/Show/Darwin-N%C3%BA%C3%B1ez) to replace Roberto Firmino in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
