# Virals: Liverpool ‘closing in’ on Celtic starlet Ben Doak

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/14/virals-fabrizio-romano-claims-liverpool-are-in-the-mix-to-sign-raphinha/) are reportedly ‘closing in’ on a deal to bring highly-rated Celtic teenager Ben Doak to Anfield.

The 16-year-old Scottish youth international is [yet to sign a professional contract](https://www.google.com/search?q=ben+doak+celtic+contract&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB885GB885&oq=ben+doak+celtic+contract&aqs=chrome.0.0i512j69i57.2792j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) with the Hoops and the Reds would therefore only be required to pay compensation.

Believed to have [drawn admiration](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/ben-doak-sends-celtic-fans-22923017) from numerous clubs, it appears that Liverpool are winning the race to sign the Scotland youth ace.

That’s according to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/news/liverpool-closing-in-on-deal-for-celtic-teenager-ben-doak/VfnsYjFBFQtr/), as cited by [James Pearce](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1503340556361117696) on Twitter.

The report claims that the ‘draw’ of a move to Merseyside has proved ‘too powerful’ for the [one-cap Scotland Under 17](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-doak/nationalmannschaft/spieler/719673/verein_id/25791) starlet to ignore.

This season Doak – [hailed](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/who-ben-doak-celtic-youngster-22920920) as ‘fantastic’ by Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou – has made [two senior appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-doak/leistungsdaten/spieler/719673) in the Scottish Premiership.
