# Virals: Liverpool ‘confident’ of winning the race for Fabio Carvalho

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/04/virals-liverpool-target-pedro-goncalves-praises-diogo-jota-on-social-media/) are reportedly ‘confident’ of winning the race to sign Fulham starlet [Fabio Carvalho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/03/virals-liverpool-in-the-frame-to-sign-fulham-starlet-fabio-carvalho/).

The Reds have recently been named alongside a [host of suitors](https://theathletic.com/news/fabio-carvalho-turns-down-fulham-contract-extension/7wxsJRJAdZ6d/) across Europe keen on landing the 19-year-old forward.

Facing competition from Leeds United, West Ham, Tottenham and Southampton as well as [from the continent](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fulham-carvalho-award-real-madrid-24972517), Liverpool are believed to be frontrunners for the capture.

According to a fresh report from [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/michael-edwards-parting-gift-huge-champ-talent-signing-cheap-deal-exclusive), the Anfield club are leading the chase and could act as soon as January.

Out of contract next summer, the Championship high-flyers may be forced to cash in on the [six-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-carvalho/nationalmannschaft/spieler/559263/verein_id/31269) England Under 18 starlet in the mid-season transfer window.

Carvalho was a second-half substitute last night as the Cottagers swept aside Blackburn Rovers [7-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59059048) at Ewood Park.

Overall this term the versatile teenager has [scored three and assisted one goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-carvalho/leistungsdaten/spieler/559263) in seven league outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Predominantly a central attacking midfielder, Carvalho is [equally adept in a variety of forward positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-carvalho/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/559263) and would therefore provide much-needed additional versatility to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Having [sold Harry Wilson to Fulham](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11681/12363317/harry-wilson-fulham-sign-liverpool-winger-for-12m-on-long-term-contract-until-2026) last summer there is already a pre-existing relationship between the clubs, one Liverpool could use to their advantage in this pursuit.

Never a club to shy away from a bargain, the Reds could [repeat the trick that saw Ben Davies arrive](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/424460-liverpool-seal-signing-of-ben-davies-on-long-term-deal) on the cheap by landing the Portugal-born ace for next to nothing ahead of a contract expiry.

Likely to be stretched to the limit as an arduous season wears on, signing the [highly-rated Carvalho](https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/teenager-fabio-carvalho-earns-praise-from-fulham-boss-scott-parker/) in January would provide a timely boost to the Anfield squad.
