# Virals: Liverpool consider ‘monstrous offer’ for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

As the now-former [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/11/virals-liverpool-face-competition-for-lorenzo-pellegrini/) midfielder [Gini Wijnaldum](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/11/liverpool-wijnaldum-psg-departure/) is confirmed as a Paris Saint-Germain player moving forwards, attention turns to how the Reds may replace the evergreen Dutchman.

Despite [not always grabbing the headlines](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/neville-wijnaldum-liverpool-underrated-in-awe-mane), one of Wijnaldum’s main strengths to Jurgen Klopp’s side was undoubtedly his reliability.

In a campaign blighted by injury almost entirely across the Anfield squad, the 30-year-old was ever-available and managed to rack up a mammoth [51 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdaten/spieler/49499) across all competitions.

It’s likely those outings will have to be replaced from outside the current crop, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita both [unreliable](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/418600-jurgen-klopp-wolves-injuries-alexander-arnold-keita-oxlade-chamberlain) in terms of fitness.

The newest name [linked](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfers-youri-tielemans-sancho-20773733) with the vacant midfield role is Lazio ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to a report from [Il Messaggero](https://www.ilmessaggero.it/sport/calcio/sarri_c_e_la_lazio_ha_l_uomo_in_piu-6012616.html), as cited by [LazioLand](https://twitter.com/Lazio_Land/status/1402902131414290434) on Twitter, Klopp has earmarked the Serbian as a possible signing.

The report claims the player’s agent has wanted that he could bring a ‘monstrous offer for Milinkovic-Savic from Liverpool’ as the [Serie A giants](https://www.transfermarkt.com/lazio-rom/erfolge/verein/398) prepare for life under ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.

During 2020/21, the [21-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sergej-milinkovi%C4%87-savi%C4%87/nationalmannschaft/spieler/266302/verein_id/3438) star scored [eight goals and provided 11 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sergej-milinkovi%C4%87-savi%C4%87/leistungsdaten/spieler/266302) in 41 outings.

Valued at an eye-watering £63million and under contract in Rome until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sergej-milinkovi%C4%87-savi%C4%87/marktwertverlauf/spieler/266302)), any offer would have to be ‘monstrous’ in order to land Savic.

Unsurprisingly Sarri is keen to build a team with the Serbian very much at the heart of matters, utilising the ace’s [plethora](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/288767/Show/Sergej-Milinkovic-Savic) of top-class midfield attributes.

Whilst Liverpool’s [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) would be undoubtedly improved by Savic’s possible arrival, shelling to upwards of £70million on a central midfield seems hugely unlikely.

Still in need of attacking reinforcements, the Anfield hierarchy would be reticent to blow the [budget](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/klopp-budget-liverpool-transfer-news-24257657) wide open for a 26-year-old in a position of relative strength within Klopp’s side.
