# Virals: Liverpool ‘considering’ sensational loan swoop for Joao Felix

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/11/virals-liverpool-keeping-tabs-on-norwich-star-todd-cantwell/) have been named among the potential suitors to make a January swoop for Atletico Madrid star [Joao Felix](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/17/illness-rules-felix-out-of-atleticos-champions-league-clash-with-liverpool/).

The Reds, Juventus and Inter Milan are the three leading protagonists to sign the [talented](https://www.football-espana.net/2021/03/10/diego-simeone-on-joao-felix-without-desire-talent-is-not-enough) 21-year-old on a temporary basis when the winner market opens.

Signed for a breathtaking £113million in 2019 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48859847)), Felix has [scored 19 times and provided nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/462250) in 81 appearances for Atletico.

According to a report from Spanish outlet [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/joao-felix-podria-salir-enero-20211010.html), as cited by [Anfield Edition](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition) on Twitter, the joint [La Liga leaders](https://www.skysports.com/la-liga-table) are ‘considering’ allowing their starlet to leave.

The report suggests that the Reds would be unlikely to agree to the loan unless there was an option to buy the [18-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/nationalmannschaft/spieler/462250/verein_id/3300) Portugal ace next summer.

So far this season, the man once hailed as [‘complete’](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/simeone-praises-atletico-star-joao-felix-for-complete/hb7tj885jb3y10t7xu9dbuywn) by manager Diego Simeone, has only managed [five fleeting appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdaten/spieler/462250) across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing a player of Felix’s [quality](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/462250) on loan would be a surprising but sensational piece of business from the Anfield club.

Predominantly operating as a false nine in a [well blessed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/atletico-madrid/kader/verein/13) Atletico squad, Felix could be the ideal long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino.

Valued at £72million and under contract until 2026 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/marktwertverlauf/spieler/462250)), landing the star on a permanent basis would prove an expensive outlay.

Whether the Spanish club would be willing to offer one of their [brightest young talents](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/362431/Show/Jo%C3%A3o-F%C3%A9lix) directly to a UEFA Champions League rival remains to be seen.
