# Virals: Liverpool ‘could allow’ double defensive transfer departure

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/05/virals-liverpool-eyeing-shock-move-for-barcelona-flop-philippe-coutinho/) may sanction the double departure of two defensive options from Anfield this month.

The Reds reportedly ‘could allow’ both [Neco Williams](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/24/james-pearce-tips-2022-departure-for-liverpool-starlet-neco-williams/) and Nat Phillips to leave the club should suitable offers be forthcoming.

That’s according to a report from [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12509532/liverpool-transfer-news-neco-williams-and-nat-phillips-could-leave-anfield-this-transfer-window), as cited by [News World Express](https://twitter.com/Newsworldexpres) on Twitter.

The report claims that the club are ‘sympathetic’ towards a desire from the [17 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neco-williams/nationalmannschaft/spieler/503680/verein_id/3864) Williams to play first-team football and will sell if the ‘right offer was made’ during the window.

Meanwhile, Phillips has been ‘attracting interest from Serie A clubs’ and Liverpool may cash in should [offers of around £15million](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9721155/Liverpool-slap-15m-price-tag-Nathaniel-Phillips-Burnley-leading-chase.html) be forthcoming.

So far this season the duo have amassed a [combined 10 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vergleich/spielervergleich/statistik/def/spieler/371814&503680) across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Both valued at £7.2million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vergleich/spielervergleich/statistik/def/spieler/371814&503680)), the Anfield club would be confident of receiving decent sums for their fringe players.

However, given the difficultly of the [current landscape](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/12/30/brendan-rodgers-warns-premier-league-hectic-festive-schedule/) and in particular, Covid-19 causing mass unavailability, allowing players to leave can be viewed as a risk regardless of squad status.

Whilst the hero of last term Phillips has been ousted by the returnees and the arrival of Ibrahima Konate, Williams remains the [only senior understudy](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) to Trent Alexander-Arnold and therefore may have to wait a little longer for a move away.
