# Virals: Liverpool determined to use Brazilian duo against Leeds United

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/09/virals-liverpool-urged-to-sign-genk-striker-paul-onuachu/) are believed to be adament that their Brazilian duo should be allowed to play this weekend despite a ban imposed by FIFA.

The Reds recently refused permission to [Alisson Becker](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/08/virals-liverpool-unable-to-use-brazilian-trio-following-fifa-ruling/) and Fabinho to join up with Brazil for the international break, leading to sanctions from the world’s governing body.

On Wednesday it was revealed that FIFA were [set to invoke Article 5](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/12402167/brazilian-fa-asks-fifa-to-block-liverpool-man-utd-man-city-leeds-and-chelsea-from-selecting-brazilian-players-from-september-10-14) in order to block Premier League clubs from selecting Brazilian players at the request of the South American nation.

According to the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-stance-fifa-banned-breaking-21513383?_ga=2.233058077.260760972.1631001774-950970508.1598684442) as cited by [Kevin Palmer](https://twitter.com/RealKevinPalmer)on Twitter, the club could be set to ignore the ruling.

The report claims that Liverpool are ‘determined’ to field their [Samba stars](https://thefootballfaithful.com/every-brazilian-to-play-for-liverpool/) due to Brazil being on the government’s list of red-list; meaning a lengthy quarantine period would’ve been imposed.

Forward Roberto Firmino is also named amongst those to be impacted, although the 29-year-old is likely to be [absent with a hamstring injury](https://www.goal.com/en/news/minamino-firmino-injury-headache-liverpool-withdrawing-japan/1hjv92a6cwqh1k79m6ku6mus3) regardless.

Brazil manager Tite has inadvertently thrown weight being the argument from Anfield by admitting [‘health comes first’](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/selecao-brasileira/noticia/noticias-selecao-brasileira-tite-escalacao-peru-brasil-argentina.ghtml) in the wake of the decision.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

This is clearly an ongoing situation that would impact both Liverpool and Sunday’s opponents Leeds United, who [could be without Raphinha](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/raphinha-leeds-united-liverpool-james-21517816) for the clash at Elland Road.

Ultimately a resolution must be found sooner rather than later, especially as a second [international break](https://www.skysports.com/internationals-fixtures) in quick succession is scheduled as soon as October.

If a report from [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12402983/liverpool-believe-fifa-has-no-basis-to-prevent-premier-league-clubs-from-selecting-brazilian-players-this-weekend) is anything to go by, it would appear Liverpool currently believe the authorities have ‘no foundation’ in which to ban their players – leading to the conclusion Alisson and Fabinho may well be in situ in Yorkshire.
