# Virals: Liverpool face tough competition for Patson Daka transfer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/14/virals-hertha-berlin-submit-offer-for-marko-grujic/) have seemingly become embroiled in a transfer saga over Red Bull Salzburg striker [Patson Daka](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/08/virals-patson-daka-reportedly-to-be-announced-by-liverpool-this-week/).

A topic of much [speculation](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1447962/Patson-Daka-Liverpool-transfer-news-Michael-Edwards-Jurgen-Klopp-gossip-rumours), the Zambian has been given time away from international duty to sort an uncertain club future.

Despite reportedly being [close](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/media-watch/435955-patson-daka-absence-explained-as-liverpool-transfer-rumours-continue) to an Anfield arrival, nothing concrete has materialised as of yet and there remains plenty of conjecture.

However, the 22-year-old isn’t short on options, as the Reds can testify with [competition](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/chelsea-false-west-ham-liverpool-patson-daka-henry) from Chelsea, West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City already evident.

Now, according to a fresh report from the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/), as cited by the [Liverpool Echo](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC/status/1403978797905494021) on Twitter, Leicester are emerging as strong contenders for Daka’s signature.

It is claimed that the Zambian striker may cost as [little as £17million](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/daka-haaland-chelsea-transfer-news-20735290) this summer – alerting the Foxes to the possibility of landing a bargain long-term Jamie Vardy replacement.

The interest in Daka comes as no surprise after the [22-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/nationalmannschaft/spieler/365172/verein_id/3703) star enjoyed a phenomenal 2020/21 campaign – scoring [34 goals and registering 12 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/leistungsdaten/spieler/365172) in 42 outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £19.8million and under contract until 2024 in Austria ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/marktwertverlauf/spieler/365172)), it is widely expected Daka will make a big move this summer.

Crowned the [2017 young African player of the year](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/erfolge/spieler/365172) and recently awarded the Austrian Bundesliga player of the season, the speedy number nine was [described](https://zambianfootball.co.zm/patson-daka-is-just-a-fantastic-player-salzburg-coach/zfadmin/) as a ‘fantastic player’ by manager Jesse Marsch.

Were Liverpool able to beat the competition and sign Daka as a potential [Divock Origi replacement](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-seven-exits-suggested-origi-shaqiri-karius), it would be regarded as shrewd business from the Reds.
