# Virals: Liverpool handed boost in pursuit of Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/03/virals-liverpool-discover-53-8m-price-for-benfica-ace-darwin-nunez/) have reportedly been handed a boost in their potential summer pursuit of Inter Milan striker [Lautaro Martinez](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/28/virals-liverpool-monitoring-lautaro-martinez-very-carefully/).

The 24-year-old has been [heavily linked](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1498322746840911880) with the Reds in recent weeks and Jurgen Klopp is known to be an admirer.

> Lautaro Martinez is one of the most exciting strikers in the world, probably.

Now a report from [Tuttosport](https://www.tuttosport.com/news/calcio/serie-a/inter/2022/03/03-90485176/inter_scamacca_il_futuro_thuram_la_speranza) has claimed that Inter are eyeing up possible replacements for the Argentine.

The report claims that the Nerazzurri are ‘in talks’ with Sassuolo frontman [Gianluca Scamacca](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gianluca-scamacca/profil/spieler/315867) as well as Borussa Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram.

So far this season Martinez – once described as [‘spectacular’](https://talksport.com/football/683970/lautaro-martinez-arsenal-transfer-news-inter-milan-lionel-messi-barcelona-man-city/) by Lionel Messi – has [scored 12 times and registered two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lautaro-martinez/leistungsdaten/spieler/406625) in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £72million and under contract in Italy until 2026 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lautaro-martinez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/406625)), it’s suggested that the Argentine hotshot ‘could also leave’ this summer along with Alexis Sanchez.

At the right price, Martinez would be a sensational coup for the Reds, especially as Roberto Firmino’s [minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roberto-firmino/leistungsdaten/spieler/131789) and influence wane.

Lethal in front of goal and [willing to contribute](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/299344/Show/Lautaro-Mart%C3%ADnez) defensively, the [37-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lautaro-martinez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/406625/verein_id/3437) Argentina star would be a sensational capture.
