# Virals: Liverpool handed ‘transfer boost’ regarding target Joao Felix

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/14/opinion-liverpool-star-fabinho-proved-invaluable-in-epl-victory/) have been handed a reported ‘transfer boost’ in their sensational pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward [Joao Felix](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/15/virals-liverpool-have-asked-atletico-madrid-about-joao-felix-transfer/).

The Reds have been [heavily linked](https://cadenaser.com/programa/2021/12/08/el_larguero/1638956244_120417.html) with the 22-year-old in recent months and recent comments would appear to suggest a deal could be possible.

Signed for an eye-watering £113million in 2019 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48859847)), Felix has made [98 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/462250) for the La Liga title holders.

However, things could be heading towards an unamicable conclusion after manager Diego Simeone [responded](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC/status/1492812543781322752) to speculation and an interview by the Portuguese international.

> About what Joao said, you can ask him. I work according to the team. If he is clear about what the problem is, it would be good to know.

The [20-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/nationalmannschaft/spieler/462250/verein_id/3300) star had told [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3110796/2022/02/09/my-game-in-my-words-by-joao-felix/) that there is a ‘problem’ at *Los Colchoneros* as Atletico struggle to defend their crown.

So far this season Felix – described as a player with [‘enormous quality’](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11838/11637156/joao-felix-who-is-reported-manchester-united-and-liverpool-target) by Jonas – has [scored three times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdaten/spieler/462250) in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £54million and under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2026 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/marktwertverlauf/spieler/462250)), signing the starlet would be an expensive venture for the Anfield club.

Capable of [playing across the frontline](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/462250) but primarily a versatile nine, Felix would appear to have all the [attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/362431/Show/Jo%C3%A3o-F%C3%A9lix) to be a long-term successor to Roberto Firmino.

With the Brazilian’s [future](https://www.90min.com/posts/liverpool-plan-for-roberto-firmino-future) up in the air, Liverpool should be keeping a keen eye on the situation in Madrid and perhaps making their intentions known this summer.
