# Virals: Liverpool have ‘chosen’ Bayer Leverkusen ace Moussa Diaby

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/28/virals-serie-a-club-close-to-deal-for-liverpool-ace-divock-origi/) have reportedly ‘chosen’ Bayer Leverkusen starlet [Moussa Diaby](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/01/virals-liverpool-on-the-trail-for-bayer-leverkusen-winger-moussa-diaby/) to replace contract rebel, Mohamed Salah.

The 22-year-old ace has [been on the radar](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldBuzz/status/1443590917416390675) at Anfield for some time now and the Reds could be set to target a summer move.

According to a report from Spanish outlet [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/fichajes-liverpool-elegido-sustituir-mohamed-salah-juega-bundesliga-20220327.html), Liverpool are ‘genuinely interested’ in the French international.

The report claims that the Reds are ‘best placed’ to land the [four-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moussa-diaby/nationalmannschaft/spieler/395516/verein_id/3377) ace and could do so regardless of whether Salah extends a deal beyond 2023.

So far this season Diaby – who was [described](https://www.bayer04.de/en-us/news/bayer04/moussa-diaby-like-lightning-with-a-run-up) as being like ‘lightning with a run up’ – has [scored 16 times and provided nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moussa-diaby/leistungsdaten/spieler/395516) in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £49.50million and under contract in Germany until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moussa-diaby/marktwertverlauf/spieler/395516)), signing the Frenchman for the mooted €60million (£50million) would represent smart value for money.

Albeit currently unproven in the Premier League and Champions League, Diaby has gone from [strength to strength](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moussa-diaby/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/395516) in a competitive Bundesliga.

Possessing blistering pace to accompany a host of [outstanding](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/353397/Show/Moussa-Diaby) stacking attributes, the Paris-born forward would likely have no issues adapting to Jurgen Klopp’s methods.

As for replacing Salah, Liverpool supporters will hope that comes a few seasons down the line and the starlet who is [capable of playing on both wings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moussa-diaby/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/395516) can learn from the Egyptian King for a while yet.
