# Virals: Liverpool have ‘enquired about’ Lyon starlet Rayan Cherki

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/19/virals-liverpool-put-offer-on-the-table-for-psg-ace-ismael-gharbi/) have reportedly ‘enquired about’ highly-rated Lyon starlet [Rayan Cherki](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/12/02/liverpool-enter-race-to-sign-wonderkid-cherki/).

The Reds are believed to be among a host of clubs keen on the 18-year-old as arch-rivals Manchester United and [Ligue 1](https://www.skysports.com/ligue-1-table) club Nice also show an interest.

Featured in [The Guardian’s Next Generation list in 2020](https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2020/oct/08/next-generation-2020-60-of-the-best-young-talents-in-world-football), Cherki was described as a ‘powerfully-built playmaker’ tipped for ‘superstar’ status.

Now, a report from French reputable outlet [L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/) (via [AS](https://en.as.com/en/2022/01/18/soccer/1642521432_501817.html)), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers) on Twitter, has claimed that Liverpool are attentive to the wantaway teen’s situation.

The report claims that the [France Under 21 star](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rayan-cherki/nationalmannschaft/spieler/607223/verein_id/9323) has become disenchanted with a lack of opportunities at Lyon and could ‘try his luck away’ from the club.

This season Cherki – hailed a [‘phenomenon’](https://www.tellerreport.com/sports/2020-01-19---%E2%80%9Cmaybe-cherki-surprised-you--but-not-us!%E2%80%9D-says-anthony-lopes-.B1G4_XuZWL.html) by former teammate Martin Terrier – has [scored twice and provided four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rayan-cherki/leistungsdaten/spieler/607223) in 18 appearances across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £18million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rayan-cherki/marktwertverlauf/spieler/607223)), signing the talented teenager should be an affordable venture for the Anfield club.

Despite an [apparent dip](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rayan-cherki/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/607223) in development, it would appear much of the problem lies in the versatile forward may lie in seeking in a fresh challenge.

Capable of playing across the frontline and with [high-quality](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/386153/Show/Rayan-Cherki) attributes, Jurgen Klopp would welcome a player of Cherki’s ilk to the squad.

Tipped to leave in the next transfer window, this is a situation that Liverpool should be capitalising on.
