# Virals: Liverpool have identified FC Porto star Luis Diaz as ‘preferred solution’

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/17/kevin-ratcliffe-lauds-liverpool-youngster-neco-williams/) have reportedly highlighted FC Porto winger and wanted man [Luis Diaz](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/09/virals-liverpool-set-to-compete-for-signing-of-fc-porto-ace-luis-diaz/) as the ideal candidate to bolster the attacking ranks at Anfield.

The Reds, Chelsea, AS Roma, Newcastle United, Everton and Manchester United have all recently been [credited with an interest](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/roma-luis-diaz-c-e-una-grande-insidia-61053) in the 24-year-old.

Porto are expected to demand the entire [€80million (£63million) release clause](https://www.marca.com/en/football/newcastle-united/2021/10/21/6171d8fc268e3efd228b4573.html#:~:text=According%20to%20Sport%20TV%2C%20Newcastle,revolutionise%20their%20squad%20in%20January.) in order to sanction a January sale.

According to a report from [Jornal de Notícias](https://www.jn.pt/desporto/liverpool-pondera-avancar-por-luis-diaz-ja-em-janeiro-14323582.html), as cited by [LFC Transfer Room](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom) on Twitter, the Portuguese giants will attempt to keep Diaz until the end of the season despite increased interest.

> ❗️𝗡𝗘𝗪: FC Porto manager Sérgio Conceição has asked Luís Diaz (24) to stay at least until the end of the season before he moves to a new league. There is solid interest from Liverpool on the winger, but a transfer might have to wait till the summer.\

The report claims that the [30-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/nationalmannschaft/spieler/480692/verein_id/3816) Columbia ace is the ‘preferred solution’ as Jurgen Klopp looks to mitigate the impact of losing Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in January.

So far this season Diaz, described as [‘excellent’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9775063/Copa-America-Luis-Diaz-nets-stunner-hand-Colombia-victory-place-play-against-Peru.html) by Juan Cuadrado, has [scored 11 times and assisted two goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/leistungsdaten/spieler/480692) in 16 appearances across all competitions.

Already a [serial trophy winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/erfolge/spieler/480692) across spells in Portugal and his native Columbia, Diaz would bring a ready-made package to Klopp’s squad.

Possessing a [wide array](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/377168/Show/Luis-D%C3%ADaz) of attacking attributes, the skilful Columbian starlet predominately operates from the left-hand side of an attacking trio.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/marktwertverlauf/spieler/480692)), whilst the mooted £63million fee could be deemed excessive, Liverpool will be required to throw some money at the troublesome attacking department.
