# Virals: Liverpool have ‘received an offer’ for Joe Gomez from EPL rivals

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/20/jamie-carragher-lauds-out-of-this-world-liverpool-star-diogo-jota/) have reportedly ‘received an offer’ to sign central defender [Joe Gomez](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/26/virals-joe-gomez-reportedly-agitated-over-lack-of-liverpool-game-time/) from Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old has made a [successful return](https://www.sofascore.com/player/joe-gomez/318927) from a long term injury but is yet to earn a place back in Jurgen Klopp’s first team.

Instead, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and summer arrival Ibrahima Konate have taken the [majority of the game time](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ibrahima-konate/profil/spieler/357119) as Gomez watches on.

According to a report from Italian outlet [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/liverpool-un-club-chiede-joe-gomez-72920), as cited by [Total Villa](https://twitter.com/Total_Villa) on Twitter, Steven Gerrard’s new club are taking steps to land the Englishman.

The report claims that the [11-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/256178/verein_id/3299) England ace ‘cannot be sold’ by the Reds as Klopp looks to keep the Anfield squad strong.

So far this season Gomez has made [nine appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178) across all competitions including three stints as a makeshift right-back.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Once the [first-choice](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRXuk7UOmUY) alongside Van Dijk, the lack of outings this season has come as somewhat of a surprise.

However, with Nat Phillips already [likely to leave](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12496692/nat-phillips-liverpool-defender-ready-to-leave-anfield-in-january-transfer-window) in January, Klopp would be desperate to keep Gomez.

As domestic cup action, Premier League and Champions League fixtures come thick and fast in the new year, the [£27million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/256178) man will be hoping for more opportunities to move back up the pecking order on Merseyside.
