# Virals: Liverpool have ‘strong interest’ in Swiss star Denis Zakaria

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/08/virals-liverpool-lead-the-race-for-jude-bellingham-capture/) reportedly have a ‘strong interest’ in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder [Denis Zakaria](https://readliverpoolfc.com/-).

The Reds are believed to be [among a host of clubs](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-news-transfers-denis-zakaria-22368315) chasing the 25-year-old ahead of a possible January swoop.

Premier League rivals Arsenal, West Ham and Everton as well as [Serie A giants](https://www.legaseriea.it/en/serie-a/roll-of-honour) Juventus and AS Roma are all keen on the combative ace.

That’s according to a report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/non-solo-juve-e-roma-chi-sono-gli-altri-tre-club-interessati-a-z-36179), as cited by [Total Football Center](https://twitter.com/totalfc_) on Twitter.

The report claims that the Bundesliga side ‘urgently needs to generate transfer revenues’ and could sell the [40-cap Switzerland international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/denis-zakaria/nationalmannschaft/spieler/334526/verein_id/3384) as a result.

So far this season Zakaria has earned an impressive [6.95 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/denis-zakaria/770677) from 12 league outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing an additional central midfielder seemed a no-brainer during the summer when [Gini Wijnaldum left](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gini-wijnaldum-liverpool-leaving-breaking-20660596) the club.

However, the continued early-season emergence of [Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/curtis-jones-liverpool-harvey-elliott-21777757) as well as the fitness of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita has gone some way to allay the doubts over depth.

That said, potentially available at a bargain rate in January or for nothing next summer, Jurgen Klopp can’t ignore the [£24.3million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/denis-zakaria/marktwertverlauf/spieler/334526) man.
