# Virals: Liverpool hold ‘genuine interest’ in EPL star Raphinha

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/08/pundit-claims-unbelievable-epl-starlet-could-replace-mohamed-salah/) reportedly hold a ‘genuine interest’ in highly-rated Leeds United forward [Raphinha](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/27/virals-liverpool-still-interested-in-attacking-premier-league-duo/).

The 25-year-old Brazilian has been linked with the Reds for some time and West Ham seemingly [joined the pursuit](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jan/29/west-ham-leeds-reject-raphinha-bid) late in the January transfer window.

Signed from French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais in 2020, Raphinha has contributed directly to [25 goals in 51 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/411295) since joining the Yorkshire club.

According to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3079854/2022/02/07/europes-elite-are-circling-raphinha-so-where-would-suit-him-if-he-does-leave/), as cited by [Liverpool FC News](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC/status/1491024482437320706) on Twitter, Liverpool s remain keen on the Brazil international.

The report claims that the [five-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/nationalmannschaft/spieler/411295/verein_id/3439) ace is one of the ‘leading candidates’ as Jurgen Klopp looks to further bolster the attacking options at Anfield.

So far this season Raphinha – described as [‘electric’](https://www.skysports.com/jermaine-beckford) by Jermaine Beckford – has [scored eight times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/leistungsdaten/spieler/411295) in 19 Premier League appearances.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £36million and under contract at Elland Road until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/marktwertverlauf/spieler/411295)), signing the skilful Brazilian would be an expensive move for the Reds.

However, as the report states the club are ‘wasting no time’ in their succession planning having [signed Luis Diaz](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12527169/luis-diaz-liverpool-sign-porto-winger-on-five-and-a-half-year-deal-for-initial-fee-of-37m) and Raphinha could be the next target.

Predominantly a right-winger – the same position as Mohamed Salah – the Brazilian certainly has the [key attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300447/Show/Raphinha) to shine in this Liverpool side but would have to bide his time for a starting berth.

Another name [perennially linked](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1555561/Liverpool-transfer-news-Jarrod-Bowen-Mohamed-Salah-SNT) to the club with similar credentials is that of West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen. One major advantage the 26-year-old would have over Raphinha is homegrown status.
