# Virals: Liverpool hold ‘strong interest’ in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/24/virals-jurgen-klopp-hints-at-rotation-as-liverpool-face-fc-porto/) have reportedly maintained a ‘strong interest’ in talented Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.

The 23-year-old Senegalese ace was [extensively linked](https://talksport.com/football/962320/liverpool-ismaila-sarr-transfer-watford-sadio-mane-riyad-mahrez/) with a move to Anfield prior to the arrival of Diogo Jota in 2020.

But in the end, the club could not put €40m on the table to finalise the deal." [pic.twitter.com/AbWg7sMUZe](https://t.co/AbWg7sMUZe)

However, it would appear that the admiration from Jurgen Klopp and co hasn’t dwindled as the German manager [considers strengthening](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-could-use-michael-edwards-22161430) the attacking ranks.

That is according to a report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/watford-sarr-richiesto-da-una-big-11119) claiming Liverpool remain keen on bringing the versatile forward to Merseyside.

Capped on [34 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/nationalmannschaft/spieler/410225/verein_id/3499) as an international teammate of Sadio Mane for Senegal, Sarr was described as [‘fantastic’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9138995/Liverpool-legend-John-Barnes-heaps-praise-Ismaila-Sarr-says-fantastic-addition.html) by Kop legend John Barnes.

Back in the top flight following a [superb](https://www.sofascore.com/player/ismaila-sarr/845286) one-year hiatus in the Championship, the Senegalese ace has [scored five times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/leistungsdaten/spieler/410225) in 12 Premier League outings this season.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing an additional forward option should be at the forefront of Klopp’s mind.

Albeit the likes of Jota, Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino [continue to produce](https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/champions-league/liverpools-free-scoring-form-counts-for-nothing-against-man-city-jurgen-klopp-40899654.html) the goods, attention should be turning to the next in line to the throne.

In an ideal world, an addition would be found in January to cover for [Salah and Mane’s AFCON participation](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-salah-mane-afcon-breaking-21975322) – a competition Sarr is also likely to be heavily involved in.

Valued at £24.3million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/marktwertverlauf/spieler/410225)) and capable of playing across the frontline, Liverpool should be chomping at the bit to move for the pacey star.
