# Virals: Liverpool ‘in pole position’ for January Karim Adeyemi transfer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/13/virals-jurgen-klopp-makes-direct-request-for-nice-star-amine-gouiri/) are reportedly considering a January move for Red Bull Salzburg forward [Karim Adeyemi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/10/virals-liverpool-contemplate-january-move-for-karim-adeyemi/) in the wake of Harvey Elliott’s injury.

The Reds were quiet throughout the [summer transfer window](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/transfers/verein/31) as only additional centre-back cover arrived in the shape of Ibrahima Konate.

Despite the inactivity, Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a [strong start](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results) to the new season – helped by the impact of teenage sensation Elliott.

However, with the 18-year-old now set for a [lengthy spell](https://theathletic.com/news/harvey-elliott-fully-focused-on-recovery-ahead-of-surgery-on-dislocated-ankle/dgqqdqDSITb5) on the sidelines, Liverpool could head into the mid-season market for Adeyemi.

That’s according to a report from [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/), as cited by [Anfield Buzz](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldBuzz/status/1437431452749213703?s=20) on Twitter claiming the Anfield club lead the way for the 19-year-old.

Already a [goalscorer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karim-adeyemi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/496094/verein_id/3262) at the senior international level for Germany, Adeyemi has been catapulted onto the big stage in the last 18 months.

Last season the starlet [scored seven and provided nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karim-adeyemi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/496094/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/A1/verein/409) in 29 Austrian Bundesliga outings.

Determined to build on that breakthrough campaign, the Munich-born ace has already notched [six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karim-adeyemi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/496094/saison/2021/wettbewerb/A1/verein/409) in the opening seven league games this term.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £18million and under contract until 2024 in Austria ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karim-adeyemi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/496094)), Liverpool would be confident of meeting Salzburg’s demands.

Having already struck a deal to bring [Takumi Minamino to Merseyside](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11890345/takumi-minamino-liverpool-sign-red-bull-salzburg-midfielder), good relations between the clubs may ease the path to this next transfer.

With attacking duo Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane all likely to head off to [AFCON](https://www.skysports.com/africa-cup-of-nations-fixtures) in January, additional options are already a must.

Throw Elliott’s absence into the mix and  Klopp’s [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) will look more lightweight than ever before at a crunch time.

Capable of [playing on either wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karim-adeyemi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/496094) and as a centre-forward, signing Adeyemi would resolve numerous issues in the ranks and should be considered a worthwhile acquisition.
