# Virals: Liverpool in the ‘foreground’ of Franck Kessie pursuit

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/12/virals-liverpool-interested-in-belgian-wonderkid-charles-de-ketelaere/) are reportedly in the ‘foreground of the pursuit for AC Milan midfielder [Franck Kessie](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/01/virals-liverpool-target-franck-kessie-could-complete-january-transfer/).

Linked with a move to Anfield since the summer departure of Gini Wijnaldum, the 24-year-old ace looks [increasingly likely to leave](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10035417/Franck-Kessie-prioritising-Premier-League-AC-Milan-contract-expires.html) the Serie A giants in 2022.

Out of contract next summer, Kessie has been [attracting interest](https://www.90min.com/posts/franck-kessie-transfer-contract-expire-chelsea-man-utd-psg-liverpool-arsenal) from numerous clubs around Europe.

A fresh report from [Mundo Deportivo](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-in-picture-for-signing-player-and-agent-receive-important-offers-will-not-rush-to-decide-next-club/) has claimed that the Ivorian is ‘wanted’ by Liverpool whilst [Andrea Profidia](https://twitter.com/ProfidiAndrea) has cited a [report](https://www.calciomercato.com/) in Italy claiming that Paris Saint-German and the Reds are the frontrunners.

Profidia stated that AC Milan are now ‘resigned’ to losing the [48-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/nationalmannschaft/spieler/294808/verein_id/3591) ace as other sides await the opportunity to ‘please the midfielder economically’ with a lucrative contract.

So far this season Kessie has earned an outstanding [7.04 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/franck-kessie/359226) from five Serie A outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing a midfielder to fill the [sizeable void](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-fabinho-wijnaldum-midfield-transfers-24712369) left behind by Wijnaldum could still be on the cards at Anfield.

Injuries to key midfielders in recent weeks have left the Reds exposed in the department and [calls for an addition](https://www.football365.com/news/hamann-liverpool-sign-wijnaldum-replacement) have increased once again.

Valued at £49.5million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/marktwertverlauf/spieler/294808)), very [rarely injured](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/verletzungen/spieler/294808) and boasting a range of [endearing attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/277269/Show/Franck-Kessi%C3%A9), the opportunity to land Kessie for free next summer shouldn’t pass Liverpool by.
