[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/29/alessandro-costacurta-labels-liverpool-as-unplayable/) are reportedly one of a number of clubs ‘interested’ in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.

The 18-year-old teenager has been attracting plenty of attention with a host of [strong performances](https://www.sofascore.com/player/florian-wirtz/1019322) at the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Signed from FC Köln in 2020, Wirtz broke into the Bundesliga side’s first-team plans last season and quickly [established himself](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-wirtz/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/598577/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/L1/verein/15) as a senior player.

Now, according to a report from [SportBILD](https://sportbild.bild.de/), as cited by journalist for the outlet [Christian Falk](https://twitter.com/cfbayern/status/1443108878598688769) on Twitter, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and the Reds are keen on the teenager.

Already [capped on three occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-wirtz/nationalmannschaft/spieler/598577/verein_id/3262) at senior level by Germany, Wirtz was part of the national side that [lifted](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-wirtz/erfolge/spieler/598577) the Under 21 European Championship trophy.

This season the attacking midfielder has scored [five times and provided four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-wirtz/leistungsdaten/spieler/598577) in six appearances across all competitions.

The talented ace – billed as the [‘total package’](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/florian-wirtz-is-the-total-package-hansi-flick-germany-bayer-leverkusen-17208) by Hansi Flick – could be in line to face [Celtic at Parkhead](https://www.skysports.com/bayer-leverkusen-fixtures) in the Europa League tonight (Thursday 30 September).

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing an attack-minded midfielder such as Wirtz has often been resisted by Jurgen Klopp ever since the departure of [Philippe Coutinho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/09/virals-report-claims-liverpool-set-for-philippe-coutinho-windfall/).

However, clearly a player of [remarkable](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/394786/Show/Florian-Wirtz) talent, Liverpool would be wise to enter any bidding war for the German teen.

Valued at £40.5million and under contract until 2026 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-wirtz/marktwertverlauf/spieler/598577)), any deal would not come cheap but the lure of Champions League football could prove too strong for Leverkusen to keep their man.
