# Virals: Liverpool interested in cut price Antoine Griezmann transfer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/23/virals-naby-keita-reportedly-willing-to-leave-liverpool-this-summer/) manager [Jurgen Klopp](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/20/jurgen-klopp-anfield/) will be desperate to bolster the attacking options at Anfield this summer in order to resurrect a Premier League title challenge next season.

Having conquered all before them for the best part of three years, the Reds have this season fallen someway [below their incredibly high standards](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) – albeit badly hampered by brutal injury blows.

One failing that has been glaringly obvious has been the frugality of the previously prolific front three – aside from [31-goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdaten/spieler/148455) star Mohamed Salah.

Both Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have had their [problems in front of goal](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sadio-mane-roberto-firmino-sum-20468916) and Klopp could be looking for an alternative backup to a struggling Divock Origi.

Remarkably, one man who could fit the bill is Barcelona superstar Antoine Griezmann, who according to a report from [El Gol Digital](https://www.elgoldigital.com/el-liverpool-el-que-mas-paga-al-fc-barcelona-por-griezmann/), as cited by the [Liverpool Echo](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC/status/1396365707760254978) on Twitter, could be available for €50m (£43m) this summer.

According to the report, the Catalan club could be tempted into parting ways with the Frenchman due to a [crippling financial situation](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/barcelona/story/4373175/barcelona-seeking-new-finance-streams-for-350m-debt-after-super-league-collapse-sources) at the Camp Nou.

Signed for £107m in 2019 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48967047.amp)), accepting bids for the mooted fee would represent an eye-watering loss for the La Liga giants.

This season the [89-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-griezmann/nationalmannschaft/spieler/125781/verein_id/3377) 30-year-old has scored [20 goals and registered 12 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-griezmann/leistungsdaten/spieler/125781) in 51 appearances across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

[Hailed](https://www.rac1.cat/) as ‘one of the best’ by Lionel Messi, Griezmann certainly has no shortage of ability.

However, despite all the obvious positives in signing a world superstar, at 30 and with likely [astronomical wage](https://fcbarcelonalatestnews.com/fc-barcelona-players-wages/) demands, Liverpool would perhaps be best suited to look elsewhere.

The likes of Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are all [next generational talents](https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2019/oct/10/next-generation-2019-60-of-the-best-young-talents-in-world-football) who have at least a decade left at the elite level.

Although £43m would be somewhat of a [bargain](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-griezmann/marktwertverlauf/spieler/125781) for the Frenchman, in terms of longevity there are better options.
