# Virals: Liverpool interested in FC Porto starlet Fabio Vieira

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/09/virals-jordan-henderson-reacts-to-10-year-anniversary-tributes/) could make a summer move for [FC Porto](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/08/liverpool-summer-finance-struggles/) attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira this summer according to reports.

The 21-year-old Portuguese playmaker has [risen to prominence](https://www.sofascore.com/player/fabio-vieira/904835) during 2020/21 and is believed to be on the Reds’ shortlist of targets as the transfer window opens.

Vieira was recently named [U21 EURO Player of the Tournament](https://www.uefa.com/under21/news/026a-12753900d92f-217aeb28542e-1000--player-of-the-tournament-fabio-vieira/) despite the young Portugal side losing to their German compatriots in the showpiece final.

As Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his squad options ahead of next season, [journalist Bruno Andrade](https://twitter.com/brunoandrd/status/1402324076300062720) has claimed the Anfield club are keeping an eye on the youngster.

With just [one year remaining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-vieira/profil/spieler/537598) on a contract, Porto are understandably keen to tie their [13-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-vieira/nationalmannschaft/spieler/537598/verein_id/16374) youth prospect down to a long term deal.

During a breakthrough 2020/21 campaign, the versatile attacking midfielder made [33 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-vieira/leistungsdaten/spieler/537598) across all competitions – scoring three goals and registering two assists.

Portugal Under 21 coach Rui Jorge [described](https://pressinsiderdaily.com/2021/06/rui-jorge-fabio-vieira-has-a-great-future-if-he-sees-fit/) Vieira as a ‘very technically advanced player’ with a ‘great future’ ahead.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

This potential deal has come rather from left-field – just the type of deal Liverpool traditionally love.

Valued at £8.1million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-vieira/marktwertverlauf/spieler/537598)) and in the final 12 months of a deal, the Reds would love nothing more than to land a bargain that turned out to be a revelation.

Lacking an archetypal number 10 in the [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team), Klopp could well have found the answer in the exciting youngster.
