# Virals: Liverpool interested in RB Leipzig winger Christopher Nkunku

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/16/liverpool-fans-applaud-superb-fabinho-performance-in-victory/) have reportedly identified RB Leipzig winger Christopher Nkunku as the ‘perfect solution’ to replace Sadio Mane in the long term.

The 24-year-old is believed to be among the leading candidates to arrive at Anfield as [Jurgen Klopp](https://www.givemesport.com/1751741-harvey-elliott-liverpools-jurgen-klopp-was-visibly-emotional-when-giving-injury-update) looks to bolster the attacking options in the squad.

Despite continued contributions from Mane, the Senegalese ace has [suffered regular dips in form](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1542568/Liverpool-Sadio-Mane-Jurgen-Klopp-Mohamed-Salah-Leicester-Manchester-City-Premier-League) over the last 18 months.

According to a report from Spanish outlet [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/christopher-nkunku-perfecta-solucion-liverpool-sadio-mane-20220115.html), as cited by [ThinkLFCTV](https://twitter.com/ThinkLFCTV) on Twitter, Nkunku could be the man to provide an alternative option.

The report claims that the [six-cap France Under 21 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christopher-nkunku/nationalmannschaft/spieler/344381/verein_id/9323) is ‘on the club’s radar’ alongside Arnaut Danjuma, Luis Diaz and Jeremy Doku.

This season Nkunku – once described as having [‘no weaknesses’](https://www.goal.com/en-ug/news/nkunku-has-no-weaknesses-rb-leipzig-boss-marsch-raves-about/19um0vy67scg71rg5mvwi3cdmd) by Jesse Marsch – has scored 17 times and provided 12 assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £49.5million and under contract in Germany until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christopher-nkunku/marktwertverlauf/spieler/344381)), signing the former PSG man would be an expensive proposition for the Reds.

However, with just [16 months remaining on a deal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sadio-mane/profil/spieler/200512) and recent performances under the spotlight, Mane’s future has never seemed less secure than right now.

To replace a player of the Senegal star’s quality will cost big money and [Nkunku’s attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300945/Show/Christopher-Nkunku) would make the Frenchman an ideal candidate.

Albeit perhaps not a like for like successor in a positional sense, the [added versatility](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christopher-nkunku/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344381) offered by the attacking midfielder would be a major boost to Klopp’s squad.
