# Virals: Liverpool interested in signing Ousmane Dembele next summer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/09/virals-liverpool-increasingly-interested-in-dusan-vlahovic/) have been named as one of multiple clubs interested in signing Barcelona forward [Ousmane Dembele](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/04/paddy-kenny-urges-liverpool-to-sign-ousmane-dembele/) next summer.

The Reds will face major competition from [Premier League rivals](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) Chelsea and Manchester City for the Frenchman.

However, the Anfield club are believed to preparing an offer to sign Dembele – who is [available on a free transfer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/profil/spieler/288230) from June 2022.

That’s according to a report from [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/michael-edwards-big-liverpool-transfer-solution-barcelona-man-free-transfer-exclusive), as cited by [Anfield Edition](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1446971656115789826) on Twitter claiming clubs have already made contact regarding the 24-year-old.

The report claims that the ‘ball is very much’ in the [27-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/nationalmannschaft/spieler/288230/verein_id/3377) ace’s court as Bayern Munich and Juventus join Liverpool in the ‘running’ to complete the sensational free transfer.

Signed in a staggering deal that could rise to £135.5million from Borussia Dortmund ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41075084)), Dembele has struggled to fulfil maximum potential at the Catalan club.

Injuries have played a huge hand in the Frenchman’s issues and the winger is [yet to play this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/verletzungen/spieler/288230) due to a hamstring problem.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Given the [treacherous financial situation](https://www.ft.com/content/c2c8565a-e282-481c-8897-0530b0c81bce) at the Camp Nou, Barcelona are unlikely to rush to extend the star’s contract and a free transfer seems almost inevitable.

Despite the injury woes, signing a player of Dembele’s [calibre](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/erfolge/spieler/288230) for free remains a no-brainer despite the likely lofty wage demands.

Predominantly a wideman, Dembele can operate centrally and would be a huge coup if any club could keep the man compared to [‘Zidane, Pele and Cruyff’](https://www.besoccer.com/new/dembele-does-things-similar-to-zidane-pele-and-cruyff-xavi-451341) fit.

Valued at £45million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/marktwertverlauf/spieler/288230)), Liverpool should be all over this deal if assurances over fitness can be found.
