# Virals: Liverpool interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Isco

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/26/virals-interest-in-liverpool-outcast-xherdan-shaqiri-expected-to-ramp-up/) are believed to be interested in signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder [Isco](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/01/23/klopp-keen-to-sign-real-madrid-star-isco/) this summer.

Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to add to the [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) in order to compete amongst the upper echelons once again next season.

One of the positions required is a central midfield following the [departure of Gini Wijnaldum](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/why-gini-wijnaldum-leaving-liverpool-20781054) to Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

According to [Fichajes.net](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/ultima-hora-mercado-fichajes-isco-tiene-horas-contadas-20210726.html), as cited by [Anfield Edition](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1419609449006878724) on Twitter, the Anfield club are keen on landing the 29-year-old.

The report claims [38 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/isco/nationalmannschaft/spieler/85288/verein_id/3375) Isco will be permitted to leave the Bernabeu during this transfer window and also credits AC Milan, Juventus and cross-park rivals Everton with holding an interest.

Signed from Malaga in 2013 for £27million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/isco/transfers/spieler/85288)), the fleet-footed ace has scored [51 goals and registered 56 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/isco/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/85288) in 337 appearances for Los Blancos.

Plagued by [injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/isco/verletzungen/spieler/85288) more recently, the Spaniard’s contributions have been on the wane and saw the man Andres Iniesta [described](https://www.fotmob.com/news/xhu2fteekyni1df14ncq5ulzf/iniesta-and-suarez-heap-praise-on-isco-as-barcelona-transfer-talk-intensifies) as ‘incredible’ offer just [two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/isco/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/85288) in 29 outings last season.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

In all honesty, this is a ship that has most probably sailed.

If these links had come about two or three seasons ago, Kopites would’ve been [rightly ecstatic](https://therealchamps.com/2020/04/18/real-madrid-isco-world-class-traits-shining/#:~:text=Those%20are%20the%20world%2Dclass,with%20Zidane%20as%20his%20manager.).

However, in need of a [career kickstart](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/isco/leistungsdaten/spieler/85288), Isco is unlikely to find the pace of the Premier League the ideal place to rekindle any creative flair.

Klopp needs a [more reliable option](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/why-gini-wijnaldum-leaving-liverpool-20781054) in order to replace Wijnaldum and should shy away from any move for the Spanish star.
