# Virals: Liverpool loanee Ozan Kabak confirms Anfield departure

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/30/charlie-nicholas-urges-swoop-for-liverpool-goalkeeper-caoimhin-kelleher/) loanee [Ozan Kabak](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/23/virals-james-pearce-rules-out-bargain-move-for-ozan-kabak/) has confirmed the end of his spell at Anfield with a social media post.

Signed on a short term deal from [Bundesliga basement side Schalke](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/table/_/league/ger.1) on transfer deadline day, the Turkish centre-back performed admirably for the Reds.

Arriving at Anfield in difficult circumstances as Jurgen Klopp attempted to steady the ship after a [host of injuries](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12206038/joel-matip-liverpool-defender-to-miss-remainder-of-2020-21-premier-league-season-with-ankle-ligament-injury#:~:text=Liverpool%20defender%20Joel%20Matip%20will,subsequently%20substituted%20at%20half%2Dtime.), the 21-year-old became part of the rebuilding process.

Despite a difficult debut against Leicester City, Kabak went on to win over a majority of Kopites and many might’ve felt the [£18million permanent deal clause](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/ozan-kabak-liverpool-transfer-news-24119607) could be activated.

However, the defender announced the departure on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/ozankabak4/status/1410226554664280073), leaving some heartfelt words for the club and manager.

In another post containing a [montage of iconic images](https://twitter.com/ozankabak4/status/1410226543293603848) from the past and during the Turkish international’s stay, Kabak simply said: ”Thanks for everything.”

Capped [12 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ozan-kabak/leistungsdaten/spieler/361260) at senior level, the defender earned an average [Sofascore rating of 6.78](https://www.sofascore.com/player/ozan-kabak/857740) from nine Premier League outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

It would seem Klopp and co have decided to [opt for Ibrahima Konate](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig) instead of Kabak, a bold move given the impressive short spell on Merseyside.

Perhaps missing the [final five games of the campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ozan-kabak/verletzungen/spieler/361260) hampered the Turkish ace’s chance of securing a permanent deal.

Many clubs have been [linked to Kabak](https://bulinews.com/news/9010/ozan-kabak-linked-with-leverkusen-move) since it became apparent Liverpool wouldn’t be taking up the option – no doubt the club and Kopites would wish him all the best.
