# Virals: Liverpool ‘looking to trigger’ release clause for Gavi

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/03/journalist-claims-liverpool-have-enquired-over-denis-zakaria-move/) are reportedly ‘looking to trigger’ the release clause required to sin Barcelona wonderkid [Gavi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/15/virals-barcelona-starlet-gavi-seduced-by-liverpool-opportunity/).

The 17-year-old midfielder is hot property following a [rapid rise to prominence](https://www.sofascore.com/player/gavi/1103693) for both club and country over the last 12 months.

Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to enter the transfer market to freshen up the [Anfield ranks](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) in the near future and could look to the teenager in order to do so.

That’s according to a report from Spanish outlet [ElNacional](https://www.elnacional.cat/ca/esports/el-liverpool-de-klopp-no-va-de-fanal-i-es-en-disposicio-de-pagar-la-clausula-per-treure-l-del_688859_102.html), as cited by [Liverpool FC News](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC) on Twitter.

The report claims that Liverpool are one of several clubs ‘willing to pay’ the €50million (£42million) in order to land the [four-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gavi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/646740/verein_id/3375) Spain starlet.

So far this season Gavi – described as [‘exceptional’](https://tech2sports.com/2021/10/07/gavi-receives-praise-after-a-heroic-performance-in-spains-win-over-italy-to-reach-the-nations-league-final/) by Luis Enrique – has [scored once and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gavi/leistungsdaten/spieler/646740) in 23 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £36million and under contract at the Camp Nou until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gavi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/646740)), spending the mooted £42million clause on the Spaniard would be an outstanding piece of business.

Capable of operating in a variety of positions and with [superb technical ability](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/422937/Show/Gavi), it’s clear to see why Klopp would be desperate to bring the teen to Merseyside.

With the Catalan giants [reportedly](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/barcelona-xavi-hernandez-gavi-laliga-25758516#:~:text=Barcelona%20wonderkid%20Gavi%20is%20reportedly,roughly%20%C2%A385%2C000%20per%20year.) looking to tie down Gavi to an extended deal, Liverpool should be wasting little time in testing these waters.
