# Virals: Liverpool make ‘huge’ offer for AC Milan star Franck Kessie

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/23/virals-liverpool-closing-in-on-newcastle-united-starlet-bobby-clark/) seem to have another new name on their transfer radar in the shape of AC Milan midfielder [Franck Kessie](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/22/virals-liverpool-named-as-admirers-of-ac-milan-star-franck-kessie/).

The Ivorian ace joins a long list of stars already linked with filling the [void left behind by Gini Wijnaldum](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/why-gini-wijnaldum-leaving-liverpool-20781054) at Anfield and could well be the most advanced yet.

After interest was initially reported by [Gazzetta Dello Sport](https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercato/Milan/22-07-2021/milan-kessie-rinnovo-contratto-4102947792567.shtml) on Thursday, there have been further developments coming out of Italy.

According to journalist Claudio Ramondi on [Sport Mediaset](https://www.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/video/mercato/calciomercato-live_35784239-202102k.shtml), as cited by Sport Witness on Twitter, the Reds have put their cards on the table.

The Italian claims that the Reds are willing to pay as much as €8million (£6.83million) [per season as salary](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/liverpool-fc/payroll/) after being in contact with agent George Atangana.

Currently away with the [Ivory Coast at the Olympic Games](https://www.eurosport.com/football/olympic-games/) in Tokyo, it’s believed that the 24-year-old’s representatives are due to sit down with the Milan hierarchy to discuss a new deal.

Capped on [44 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/nationalmannschaft/spieler/294808/verein_id/3591) by the African nation, Kessie has already established himself as a [mainstay for both club and country](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/294808) in the last 18 months.

Last season was the ace’s most productive to date, scoring [13 goals and adding six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/294808) in 37 Serie A outings.

Valued at £49.5million and in the final 12 months of a deal at the San Siro [(Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/marktwertverlauf/spieler/294808)), it comes as little surprise that Liverpool would look to swoop this summer.

Whilst a fee would still be expected, if contract negotiations fail in Italy the Reds will want to be poised to make a move for the man [described](https://www.forbes.com/sites/chloeberesford/2021/02/16/franck-kessie-the-jewel-in-ac-milans-crown/) as the ‘complete player’ by Milan boss Stefano Pioli.

Perhaps most impressively, Kessie has [only missed one game](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/verletzungen/spieler/294808) in the last three seasons – an enviable record that would endear Jurgen Klopp immensely to the signing.

After many have been linked, the Ivorian could actually be the [ideal](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/277269/Show/Franck-Kessi%C3%A9) Wijnaldum replacement.
