# Virals: Liverpool make offer for Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/08/virals-xherdan-shaqiri-will-leave-liverpool-this-summer/) need to be active this summer as [Jurgen Klopp](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/29/virals-fabrizio-romano-teases-liverpool-with-more-signings-promise/) looks to replenish his once all-conquering squad.

Albeit badly impacted by injury, the Reds suffered a rather [disappointing 2020/21 campaign](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) as reigning Premier League champions and will be looking to bounce back immediately next term.

Therefore much is expected in the way of [ins and outs at Anfield](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sell-11-players-millions-20264292) as Klopp attempts to put together a side ready to challenge once again.

Following the [signing of centre-back Ibrahima Konate](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig), Liverpool have reportedly made an offer for AS Roma central midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.

This is according to a report from an Italian outlet [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/?refresh_ce), as cited by the [Liverpool Echo](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC/status/1402211351808954372) on Twitter.

The report claims Pellegrini is viewed upon as a replacement for the seemingly [Paris Saint-Germain bound](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57384537) Gini Wijnaldum.

Currently away on with the senior [Italy squad](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/teams/66--italy/squad/) ahead of the Euro 2020 competition, the 24-year-old is believed to have a [release clause](https://football-italia.net/roma-want-to-remove-pellegrini-release-clause/) in his current contract.

[Described](https://footballbh.net/2020/01/06/lorenzo-pellegrini-finally-coming-of-age/) as a ‘very intelligent player’ by ex-Roma boss Paulo Fonseca, the [17-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-pellegrini/nationalmannschaft/spieler/286297/verein_id/3376) midfielder contributed [11 goals and nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-pellegrini/leistungsdaten/spieler/286297) in 47 outings across all competitions in 2020/21.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing a [£36million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-pellegrini/marktwertverlauf/spieler/286297) star for the mooted £25.8millon release clause would be outstanding business from the Reds.

Recently [appointed as captain](https://www.chiesaditotti.com/2021/2/4/22265923/roma-lorenzo-pellegrini-captain) at the Stadio Olimpico, Liverpool would be landing a serious talent from under the nose of new Roma boss Jose Mourinho’s nose.

Credited with an excellent array of attributes – including [key passes and interceptions](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/148546/Show/Lorenzo-Pellegrini) – Pellegrini would have to be viewed as a bargain deal.
