# Virals: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp now ‘prefers’ Kamaldeen Sulemana

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/29/virals-liverpool-defensive-duo-considered-for-january-departures/) manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly now ‘prefers’ the idea of signing Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana as opposed to teammate Jeremy Doku.

The Reds have long since been [linked with a move](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jeremy-doku-transfer-liverpool-barcelona-22221351) for Belgian winger Doku and a move had been expected to materialise in the future.

However, Klopp could now be set to turn attention to 19-year-old Sulemana as the German boss attempts to bolster the [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) at Anfield.

That’s according to a report from Spanish outlet [Fichajes](https://www.football365.com/news/transfer-gossip-liverpool-suleman-barca-man-utd-martial-dembele-pogba).

This isn’t the first time the club has been [linked](https://www.tv3sport.dk/sport/fodbold/nyheder/fcn-traener-afslorer-liverpool-er-med-i-kampen-om-kamaldeen) with the Ghanaian teenager as FC Nordsjælland manager Flemming Pedersen previously confirmed interest from Merseyside.

Described as [‘extraordinary’](https://www.bt.dk/fodbold/superliga-traener-afsloerer-liverpool-kigger-paa-eftertragtet-komet) by Pederson, the [seven-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kamaldeen-sulemana/nationalmannschaft/spieler/746695/verein_id/3441) Ghana ace moved from the Danish top-flight to Ligue 1 for £12.6million in the summer ([Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/rennes-win-race-to-sign-sulemana-amid-man-utd-and-ajax/1b75je0v77psb17v2637lzx61i)).

So far this season Sulemana has [scored five and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kamaldeen-sulemana/leistungsdaten/spieler/746695) in 20 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £13.5million and under contract until 2026 in France ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kamaldeen-sulemana/marktwertverlauf/spieler/746695)), prizing the starlet away from Rennes so soon after arriving would likely be a difficult task.

Predominantly a left-winger with [capabilities](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kamaldeen-sulemana/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/746695) of playing across the frontline, Sulemana would represent the ideal option to bolster the attack at Liverpool.

Boasting strong [finishing and dribbling](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/422135/Show/Kamaldeen-Sulemana) skills, the initial report claims Klopp is an admirer of the teenager’s pressing intensity.

One major downside to moving for Sulemana in January, however, is Ghana’s involvement in the [African Cup of Nations –](https://www.skysports.com/africa-cup-of-nations-fixtures) meaning there would be no instant replacement for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
