# Virals: Liverpool named as suitors for superstar striker Erling Haaland

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/22/jamie-ohara-lauds-ruthless-liverpool-under-jurgen-klopp/) have been named as potential suitors once again for Borussia Dortmund striker [Erling Haaland](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/03/pundit-says-liverpool-are-in-the-running-for-borussia-dortmund-ace-erling-haaland/).

The future of the 21-year-old phenomenon continues to be a topic of [much transfer speculation](https://www.marca.com/en/football/bundesliga/2022/02/11/6206b114268e3e26678b45f8.html) and the Reds seem to remain in with a shout.

Despite [extensive links](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/here-we-go-erling-haaland-update-with-manchester-city-and-real-madrid-among-front-runners/) to Real Madrid and Manchester City, it would appear that choosing the Norwegian’s next destination is far from straightforward.

According to a report from [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20220320/1001770400/city-ven-madrid-mejor-situado-haaland.html), as cited by [LFC Transfer Room](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1505948681396232198) on Twitter, Liverpool may yet throw their hat into the ring.

The report claims that both the Reds and Bayern Munich could turn to the [15-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erling-haaland/nationalmannschaft/spieler/418560/verein_id/3440) superstar should either Mohamed Salah or Robert Lewandowski move on.

So far this season Haaland – [described](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9365253/Erling-Haaland-Thierry-Henry-praise-lethal-Borussia-Dortmund-star.html) as ‘lethal’ by Thierry Henry – has [scored 23 times and provided six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erling-haaland/leistungsdaten/spieler/418560) in 23 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at an eye-watering £135million and under contract in Germany until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erling-haaland/marktwertverlauf/spieler/418560)), taking advantage of a [mooted](https://www.marca.com/en/football/transfer-market/2021/12/25/61c757a8e2704e8c8e8b45bb.html) €75million (£63million) release clause would be a truly extraordinary piece of business.

Whilst the likely [astronomical wages](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4502910/erling-haaland-wants-30m-per-year-wages-as-man-utdcitychelseareal-madrid-eye-bid-sources#:~:text=Erling%20Haaland%20will%20command%20wages,to%20sign%20the%20Norway%20forward.) would be a stumbling block for any potential suitor, particularly Liverpool, there can be no doubting the sheer level of quality Haaland possesses.

Boasting ridiculous pace, power and a [scoring record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erling-haaland/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/418560), adding the Norwegian to the Anfield ranks under Jurgen Klopp would be a frightening proposition and one that would supplement any potential loss of Salah.

Meanwhile, a report elsewhere from [UOL](https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/colunas/mercado-da-bola/2022/03/21/na-mira-de-gigantes-raphinha-recusa-renovacao-de-contrato-no-leeds.htm) has claimed another of the Reds’ attacking targets, Leeds United winger Raphinha, is wanted by Barcelona.
