# Virals: Liverpool ‘on the prowl’ for Barcelona starlet Gavi

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/07/virals-sadio-mane-shows-humility-following-glorious-afcon-success/) are reportedly ‘on the prowl’ for Barcelona starlet [Gavi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/04/virals-liverpool-looking-to-trigger-release-clause-for-gavi/) as Jurgen Klopp continues to rejuvenate the Anfield ranks.

The German manager has already started [nurturing the next generation](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) of Reds’ stars whilst maintaining the current levels of attainment.

One sure sign of that process was the [return of Harvey Elliott](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60281873) against Cardiff City as the 18-year-old attacking midfielder scored following five months out through injury.

According to a report from [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/liverpool-entromete-renovacion-gavi-fc-barcelona-20220206.html), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/fichajesnet/status/1490400210291466244), Liverpool are considering an audacious move for Gavi.

The report claims that the Reds are ‘stalking’ the 17-year-old midfielder as the Catalan giants attempt to tie their [four-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gavi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/646740/verein_id/3375) Spanish ace down to a new contract.

Described as [‘exceptional’](https://tech2sports.com/2021/10/07/gavi-receives-praise-after-a-heroic-performance-in-spains-win-over-italy-to-reach-the-nations-league-final/) by Luis Enrique, Gavi has [scored twice and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gavi/leistungsdaten/spieler/646740) in 27 appearances during a breakout season in Spain.

Valued at £36million and under contract at Camp Nou until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gavi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/646740)), signing the teenager could be a real possibility this summer should no new deal be forthcoming.

A graduate of the famous [La Masia academy](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/club/facilities/la-masia) in Catalonia following an early switch from Real Betis, Gavi has already established himself as a regular in Xavi’s first team.

Capable of playing in [numerous](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gavi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/646740) positions, bringing the talented Spaniard would be an outstanding piece of business.

Sharing [similarities](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/422937/Show/Gavi) in style with Fulham ace Fabio Carvalho, any pursuit from Liverpool may yet depend on whether or not that failed January transfer gets completed.
