# Virals: Liverpool ‘ready to get serious’ for Marcelo Brozovic transfer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/30/garth-crooks-in-awe-of-liverpool-defender-virgil-van-dijk/) are reportedly preparing to pursue a deal for Inter Milan midfielder [Marcelo Brozovic](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/04/16/liverpool-in-talks-to-sign-marcelo-brozovic/) following the transfer window.

The Reds are believed to be closely monitoring the Croatian’s situation after the 28-year-old entered the [final 12 months of a contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/profil/spieler/156617) in Italy.

This isn’t the first time the club has been heavily linked with Brozovic, as [strong links](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1269762/Liverpool-talks-Marcelo-Brozovic-transfer-gossip-Inter-Milan-new-contract) also emerged back in April 2020.

The Nerazzurri remain confident that their man will extend a [five-year spell](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/transfers/spieler/156617) at the San Siro and are willing to offer a new deal.

However, according to a report from [Inter Live](https://www.interlive.it/2021/08/29/calciomercato-inter-brozovic-rinnovo-contratto-liverpool-juventus/), as cited by [Liverpool FC News](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC/status/1432339148564836354) on Twitter claims that Jurgen Klopp will ‘try to sign’ Brozovic.

The report states that Liverpool ‘in particular’ have tempted the [63 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/156617/verein_id/3556) international to hold off on signing a new deal as the Anfield club are ‘ready to get serious’ for the ace.

Last season, Brozovic [scored twice and registered six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/156617/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/IT1/verein/46) in 33 Serie A outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £36million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/156617)), signing the Croatian star for nothing next summer would be a sublime piece of business.

As things stand the Reds would be able to reach a [pre-contract agreement](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/profil/spieler/156617) for a move on January 1 2022.

Having lost [Gini Wijnaldum as a free agent](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/why-gini-wijnaldum-leaving-liverpool-20781054) this summer, landing a like for like replacement would be shrewd, albeit perhaps a season too late.

Credited with [very strong passing ability](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/87449/Show/Marcelo-Brozovic) as well as an abundance of key attributes, Brozovic fits the bill of a typical Jurgen Klopp midfielder.
