# Virals: Liverpool ‘ready to join the auction’ for Domenico Berardi

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/12/virals-liverpool-quartet-train-as-reds-confirm-pre-season-plans/) are believed to be seriously considering a move for Sassuolo winger [Domenico Berardi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/11/virals-liverpool-set-their-sights-on-italy-winger-domenico-berardi/) this summer.

The 26-year-old is fresh off the back of [starting three games](https://www.sofascore.com/player/domenico-berardi/253367) for Italy during a successful Euro 2020 campaign for the nation and has come under intense interest.

Wanted by Leicester City, the Reds have also been [linked with Berardi](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfers-berardi-florian-neuhaus-20859760) in recent weeks and could be about to step up their interest.

That’s according to Italian newspaper [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1414593573832515584) on Twitter.

The report claims the Serie A club will be looking for a fee in the region of €40-45million (£34-38million) for the [17-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/177843/verein_id/3376) star.

Berardi has enjoyed a superb rise to prominence in the last two seasons, scoring [31 and assisting 18 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/177843) in 61 outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing an additional attacking option this summer has been [earmarked as a priority](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12315927/liverpool-the-summer-transfer-window-and-what-they-need-to-do) for Jurgen Klopp.

Whilst the Italian ace would represent a [high-quality](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/118542/Show/Domenico-Berardi) addition, for the mooted valuations there could be better options.

Despite a hugely impressive goals contribution, Berardi offers little in the way of versatility having almost exclusively [played off the right-wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/leistungsdaten/spieler/177843) for club and country.

That position is occupied by a certain Mohamed Salah and supplemented by [Harvey Elliott and Xherdan Shaqiri](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team), making an outlay unlikely this summer.

Valued at £31.5million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/177843)), it seems unlikely the Reds would be able to land a bargain deal.
