# Virals: Liverpool ready to ‘reignite’ interest in Renato Sanches

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/18/virals-liverpool-interested-in-ecuador-international-byron-castillo/) are reportedly ready to ‘reignite’ their interest in Lille midfielder [Renato Sanches](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/06/virals-journalist-claims-injury-cancelled-renato-sanches-to-liverpool-move/).

The Reds were [extensively linked](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-renato-sanches-transfer-react-21441257) with a move for the 24-year-old during the summer as Jurgen Klopp eyed a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.

However, that move failed to materialise as the German manager appeared to [place trust](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-midfield-22035640) in those midfielders already in situ at Anfield.

According to a report from Italian outlet [CalcioMercarto](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/milan-c-e-concorrenza-per-renato-sanches-35305), as cited by [Liverpool FC News](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC) on Twitter, Liverpool remain keen on the Portuguese ace.

The report claims that AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the [32-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/nationalmannschaft/spieler/258027/verein_id/3300) star.

Sanches has recently returned from a knee injury suffered having made an [impressive start](https://www.sofascore.com/player/renato-sanches/318967) to the 2021/22 Ligue 1 campaign.

Described as [‘incredible’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/campbell-in-awe-of-incredible-sanches-as-liverpool-close-on-reported-deal/) by former Everton striker Kevin Campbell the combative midfielder has already enjoyed a [stellar career](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/erfolge/spieler/258027) to date.

Midfield is one area that has to be under serious consideration in January.

Despite boasting a wealth of options in the department, [regular injuries](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/447798-injury-update-naby-keita-thiago-alcantara-and-fabinho-latest) to the likes of Naby Keita, Thiago and Curtis Jones have left Klopp bereft all too often this term.

Albeit Sanches possesses a worrying [injury record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/verletzungen/spieler/258027) of his own, should assurances be made over his fitness there is a genuinely top-class player to be had.

Valued at £27million and under contract in France until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/marktwertverlauf/spieler/258027)), it would appear a move is getting ever closer.
